Ah, I knew the name rang a bell. Weird indeed, but the invoice seems to be genuine since the bellingcat guy appears in the thread to demand removal of personal information. Not that it's particularly surprising that bellingcat people would appear on the payroll of one spook outfit or the other.

The invoice is real. The guy is an ex-Secret Service freelancer. Who publicised the work when he was doing it.

I mean if you're going to exclude every one who ever worked for military or security services when you're talking about chemical weapons you're going to be left in a very quiet room or one that knows nothing.

It's not as if he's not up front about who he is.

I think the point is that the money came from the Integrity Institute that has now been shown to be a spook front. How much that changes is up to the taste of the reader I suppose.

Not really.

The eponynomous website "Bellingcat" started up on the margins of the DCCC-Russian-Steele Dossier investigation in the US. Supposed "citizen journalism" analyzing public info, informed by E. European/Russia correspondents ("commentators").

I first ran into trolling Duran waters. That's mid-2016.

No. See my comment below. The Browm Moses blog by Eliot Higgins started in the year 2013 on Syria in support of the anti-Assad rebels and gained notoriety with the Ghouta gas attack in August 2013. Higgins started Bellingcat after funding from USAID and American NGOs in 2014 - think Ukraine and the MH-17 incident.

I'm just saying when I discovered Bellingcat, I didn't find the cover story interest in Russian "interference" with US politics plausible.

The only moment Dan Kaszeta entered the comments section here @EuroTrib was in the days of August 2013 after the Ghouta "gas attacks". Not surprising there was an interview with Kaszeta published in the Brown Moses blog of Atlantic Council hiree Eliot Higgins
