Norway government collapses over IS spouse repatriation spat
"I brought [Norway's right-wing Progress Party] into government, and I'm now taking the party out,"* [Finance Minister Siv] Jensen told a news conference. The move means that Conservative Prime Minister Erna Solberg no longer has a parliamentary majority.

Last week, Norway's Cabinet decided to allow the woman to return to Norway with her two children so that her 5-year-old son could receive medical treatment. The three had been living in the Kurdish-controlled al-Hol refugee camp in Syria.

Countries across Europe have been struggling with whether or not to allow their citizens who left to join the fight in Syria, or marry IS militants, to return home. In November, Germany repatriated a woman suspected of being an IS member along with her three children.

Norway PM forms minority govt after populists' departure
center-right: "Erna Solberg, who heads a three-party minority government with her own Conservatives, the centrist Liberal Party and the Christian Democrats, tapped a new finance minister to replace Progress Party leader Siv Jensen, whose party left the coalition Monday."

Europe still reluctant to repatriate its foreign fighters and families
A study from July 2019 estimated that some 5,500 foreigners in Syria and Iraq were either coming from the EU27 or were born to the parents of EU nationals, though the numbers may be higher due to gaps in the available information and under-reporting by countries.
