The tories intend to pass a law making it illegal to extend the discussions beyond one year. As I've been saying for a while now, I don't think they want a deal, so the idea of somehow getting the talks to run on towards a sensible solution isn't even a threat.

They are fundamentalist free traders, they realy do believe all the Chicago School/Randian WTO bollocks. Their idea of a trade deal is phoning up Trump to become a preferred off-shore tax haven for US coroporates.

They know nothing of the trade in tangible goods which require lorries, ferries, delivery, manufacture, logisitcs, infrastructure etc. They honestly don't think it matters cos it's not how they themselves make money. They're simply parasitic on such ventures, They know that, as one fails, there will be another victim to bleed dry along in due course.
