It will take a clear and consequential environmental disaster that directly affects republican strongholds before the US of A changes its mind on climate change. Which, of course, is a bit of a problem because by then it will be too late.*

Clear and present disaster is happening right now in the Midwest.  

Nothing is going to be done to prepare for Climate Change.  To do so would put a massive dent in the profits of the automotive (~20% of the US economy, when all is said and done) and energy (~8% of GDP) industries and negatively affect the FIRE sector (~20% of GDP) in ways too complicated for me to sort out.

You mean the flooding of huge expanses of farmland, the ruination of thousands of drinking water wells, and the damage to Offutt Air Force Base? The expected increase in the price of meat, to the tune of $1 per pound? The $0.20 per gallon increase in the price of gasoline due to disruption of the ethanol supply? All that stuff?

A proposition from a peanut gallery off-site has come to my attention. That is, "while being faced with decisions on prosecuting those who seditioned against him", what should Trump do? : "I'd go after those suckers, even if it meant my 2020 term. But that might not be in the best interests of the nation, considering there's no viable alternative." Further, "The buck stops here", referring to the legend imprinted on President Truman's desk accessory, rather than any principle of co-equal branches of government authorities.
