[Republic of] Sudan's [al-]Bashir held in Khartoum prison

Sudan's military leaders transferredousted strongman Omar al-Bashir to prison on Wednesday, a family source said.
Sudan's foreign minister has said that [council chief General Abdel Fattah al-] Burhan is "committed to having a complete civilian government," but the African Union has threatened to suspend Sudan from the bloc over the coup unless changes are made within 15 days.

With al-Bashir's future uncertain, Uganda said on Wednesday that it would consider granting the ex-leader asylum. al-Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the deaths of 300,000 people during the insurgency in Darfur over a decade ago. Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni [!] has repeatedly criticized the ICC, saying it unfairly targets Africans.
