I have never visited HK. I've had no desire to visit HK, but I've made the acquaintance of migratory "Hongkongers" in NYC and London, UK. Incredulouw, yeah, I did a brief tour of HK public data beginning with GINI calculations since 1980, GDP and trade balances (HKMA:USD), historical industrial policy, HK SAR demographic and net migration estimates. Provisional conclusion: AP story unexpectedly yet deftly summarizes British SOP, residual economic impairments. Democracy indeed is not well understood.
