Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

The council elections are a bit of democracy theatre, but have no real influence on national policy. The Establishment won't find these results unduly troubling, because the Establishment doesn't care about them.

The BBC is dutifully spinning the results as a "People want Brexit done" protest vote - which will be partly true, on the Tory side.

As far as the Establishment is concerned no one else matters, so the LibDem gains are just noise.
