Confirmed: Dr. Gabor Maté is Aaron Maté's father. And so, the name rings bells.

Psychology of Russiagate, A/V (EN), transcript

I first became acquainted with Gabor Maté through radio interviews on DemocracyNow! nearly a decade ago, in the ebb of the Bush admin. Goodman consulted him on identifying and treating pathological behavior then, too. I admit, launching another commercial website to flog D.C. lobbyists or social media "outlets" for disordered, vicarious authority didn't enter their conversations.

Activists vow to stay inside the Venezuelan embassy
Activists who have held a protest inside the Venezuelan embassy for 35 days said Tuesday they plan to remain despite law enforcement warnings that they are trespassing on embassy property.
[...]
Carlos Vecchio, the new ambassador to Washington designated by Guaidó, requested U.S. assistance in clearing the building. The State Department said Tuesday that "until the trespassers are gone, no individuals will be permitted to enter the embassy."

A crowd of Venezuelan expatriates who demand the eviction of the activists remains outside the building, along with a large police presence.

In other words, he  accidentally told the truth again.
According to an early donor list mistakenly attached to a invitation to Biden's first fundraiser in Philadelphia on April 25, the event raised tens of thousands of dollars from employees and family members of attorneys at the law firm Cozen O'Connor. The firm specializes in labor disputes, including helping employers "prepare for and respond to picket lines, strikes, lockouts, and other economic campaigns," as well as to "avoid unionization through positive employee relations." Cozen O'Connor's website notes that the firm's attorneys "manage labor relations with a clear eye toward the bottom line."

Of the $70,150 that had been pledged to Biden's campaign at the time the list was released, $46,850 came from checks signed by Cozen O'Connor employees and their family members.

This is all very well whilst everybody is in the fake kumbaya phase where they're all going "we're not gonna have a negative camapign and we're not gonna attack fellow democrats".

But that can't last and Biden's DINO positions are gonna go nowhere

Yup, they are highly paid to provide a bulwark against any real change happening to their cozy arrangement to keep America in a state of permanent war, something they could not afford were it not for the petrodollar hegemony, which may be on its last legs if the new wave of multi-culti democrats gain any traction towards a renewables new deal.
A highly profitable status quo is absolutely not to be disturbed, and they will kill anyone in their way if necessary.
Lip service to change, such as provided by Joe Biden for example is all they have, and honestly I believe they'd rather lose again to Trump than give up their cash cows by letting these mouthy youngsters - women no less!- get any closer to the levers of power.
Trump is actually closer to them ideologically than is Sanders, notwithstanding his base rabble hellbent on making libruls the new Jews, along with Muslims and Mexicans.

Hong Kong legislators brawl over contentious extradition law
"between pro-democracy lawmakers and ["pro-Beijing lawmakers"] over a proposed extradition law that will extend Beijing's powers"
The former British colony is trying to enact rules that would allow people accused of a crime, including foreigners, to be extradited from the city to countries without formal extradition agreements, including mainland China.

Opponents [?] fear the law would erode rights and legal protections in the free-wheeling financial hub that were guaranteed when it returned to Chinese rule in 1997.

Who is who? Hellifino. Sumbuddy buried the lede in bullshit.
In the United States, a congressional commission said the law could extend China's "coercive reach" and create serious risks for U.S. security and business interests in Hong Kong.
China changes laws in trade war with U.S., enforcement a concern
Premier Li Keqiang pledged that the government would follow through and do what the legislation promised in protecting foreign firms. ... Previous drafts stipulated criminal punishment for officials who violated the law and a last-minute revision has strengthened those clauses.

Foreign business groups have in principle welcomed the law, but the big concern is about enforcement, especially when the judicial system takes its orders from the ruling Communist Party.

Modi surges to victory in India on Hindu-first platform
With most of the votes counted, Modi's stunning re-election mirrored a global trend of right-wing populists sweeping to victory, from the United States to Brazil to Italy, often on a platform promoting a tough stand on national security, protectionist trade policies and putting up barriers to immigration.
[...]
Election Commission data showed Modi's Bharatia Janata winning 158 seats and in the lead for 145 more, which would catapult the party well beyond the simple majority in the 545-member lower house of Parliament required to govern. The results spelled another nail in the coffin of the main opposition Indian National Congress party, which picked up 31 seats and was leading in 21 other contests.

An estimated 600 million voters cast ballots in India's six-week polls, a testimony to the vibrancy of the world's largest democracy just 72 years since India won independence from British colonial rule.

Voters expressed confidence that Modi could jumpstart India's stalling economy, despite his poor first-term record and failure to deliver on his pledge to create jobs.

The BJP harnessed social media, including Twitter, where Modi has 47.4 million followers, and WhatsApp to reach out to millions of supporters.
[...]
Mohit Sharma, a 29-year-old who runs a bathroom fittings business, said India had never had a prime minister like Modi. "In the past, when leaders after they won elections, they sat in air-conditioned rooms and they never reached out to people, but Modi was never like that. He was always connected to the people through social media," Sharma said.

Facebook: Fake account removal doubles in 6 months to 3B
Of the 3.4 billion accounts removed in the six-month period, 1.2 billion came during the fourth quarter of 2018 and 2.2 billion during the first quarter of this year. More than 99 percent of these were disabled before someone reported them to the company. In the April-September period last year, Facebook blocked 1.5 billion accounts.

Facebook attributed the spike in the removed accounts to "automated attacks by bad actors who attempt to create large volumes of accounts at one time." The company declined to say where these attacks originated, only that they were from different parts of the world.

Bloomberg
With Uber Technologies Inc.'s shares plunging nearly 20% below its IPO price on Monday, the stock might be fast approaching a "white knuckle" territory, according to one Wall Street analyst.

After closing down 7.6% on Friday in its trading debut, Uber's stock dropped as much as 13% on Monday in New York, before closing down 11% at $37.10. The initial public offering was priced at $45.

"From a stock perspective, if Uber breaks $35, that is where it starts to get even more white knuckles," Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives said in a phone interview. "Right now the bears are winning, and there is nothing to stop these stocks from moving down, especially in a risk-off environment," the analyst added, noting the weakness in ride-sharing peer Lyft Inc., which is also down as much as 7.3%.

Congressional leaders get classified briefing on Iran
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a member of the Gang of Eight, said briefings are necessary because informing leaders "is no substitute for the full membership of the Congress." She said a failure to inform Congress is "part of a pattern" for the Trump administration "that is not right" because the power to declare war resides with the Congress.

"So I hope that the president's advisers recognize that they have no authorization to go forward in any way" against Iran, Pelosi said.
