Nothing happens in Iran that the Guardian Council (i.e. Khamenei) don't explicitly approve. 7000 candidacies have been blocked.

Elections? Are we really calling it that?

I think it's a bit of hubris from westerners to think we have any influence there.

How to Watch, What to Know As Candidates Take the Stage Ahead of Primary

Tuesday night will be the first time that BOTH billionaires in the race--Bloomberg and Steyer--will face each other on the debate stage. Both have recently been accused by their rivals of trying to buy the election through their self-funded campaigns.
The debate will kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern time and is going to be co-hosted by CBS News and the Congressional Black Caucus Institute in Charleston, South Carolina. The two main moderators will be CBS anchors Gayle King [BWAH!] and Norah O'Donnell. They'll be joined for questioning by Margaret Brennan [BWAH!] , Major Garrett and Bill Whitaker.

I'm not being facetious when I say Queen Latifa was an excellent moderator way back when. Easily more dignified that most the people Fox or CNN hire.
