I had a look at some video clips on Youtube and what I saw was the police - and in some cases what appears to be military - defend fences with punches and gas - probably pepper spray - and when there is enough opponents the police falls back. What isn't shown in the street fights outside the buildings is drawn guns and massive amount of tear gas.
If the police is unwilling to escalate violence, has undefensible positions, are fewer then the protestors and the protestors wants to go through or around the police and are willing to use some amount of violence to do so, then the protestors wins.
I find the unwillingness to escalate violence against protestors on the right (in contrast to protests form BLM or the left in general) very consistent with police forces in the US.
I don't see where any conspiracy would be needed or have greater explanation power.
