Russian source for Steele's Trump dossier arrested by US authorities | The Guardian |  By Luke Harding

The five-page indictment released on Thursday accuses Danchenko of lying repeatedly to the FBI when interviewed in 2017 - a criminal offense. These include over his dealings with an unnamed US PR executive with close links to the Democrats. The executive's information found its way into some of the dossier's memos, a fact Danchenko allegedly concealed.

The FBI further accuses Danchenko of making up a conversation with Sergei Millian, a Russian American property broker with links to Trump, who appears in the dossier as "source D".

He appears to have been credited by Danchenko with the claim that Trump watched sex workers perform "golden showers" by urinating on each other at the hotel.

In 2019, the special counsel Robert Mueller said no criminal wrongdoing had taken place between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

Democrats believe Durham's inquiries to be politically driven. But so far the Biden administration has not tried to stop him. Danchenko is the third person, and second in a two-month span, to face indictment with five separate counts on Thursday of lying. In September cybersecurity lawyer, Michael Sussmann [NYT] was also accused of lying to the FBI.

Danchenko, who previously worked for the Brookings Institution, has himself suggested that the information he offered to Steele was not meant to be portrayed as indisputable fact.

"Even raw intelligence from credible sources, I take it with a grain of salt," Danchenko told The New York Times last year. "Who knows, what if it's not particularly accurate? Is it just a rumour or is there more to it?"

Yesterday morning, AP claimed it was "unclear" on which charges Danchenko was indicted by grand jury---because US Atty John Durham is, well, persona no grata in the post-TRUMP impeachment BLM Build Back Better insurrection riot ERA. Durham is no Mueller.

So I checked DOJ press releases. An there it was, front page! So I read all five (5) counts but did not count all "masked" conspirators, eg. "Think Tank-1".

Later yesterday, the magistrate at Danchenko's 2-hr arraignment confiscated his passport and released him on his own recognizance (ROR). DOJ purportedly did not object as that was an agreed condition of his surrender.

I suspect, MSM will decline to pursue prurient details of this case like two others in Durham's docket--unless Harding can resuscitate Russia double-agents angles of election interference.

You Cannot Discuss Disinformation and the Steele Dossier Without Discussing Oleg Deripaska

It is a fact that, starting in 2014 and continuing at least through at least February 2017, Christopher Steele used his relationship [large pdf] with DOJ's Organized Crime expert, Bruce Ohr, to encourage ties between Oleg Deripaska and the US government. That included brokering a meeting between Ohr and Deripaska in 2015, and several communications in 2016 before Fusion GPS hired Christopher Steele to investigate Trump. It included Steele's meeting with Ohr on July 30, 2016, at which Steele provided Ohr information on Russian doping, details from his reporting for the DNC, and news about Deripaska's lawsuit against Paul Manafort.
