24 Dec, US to lift travel restrictions on eight African countries

The Biden administration announced the restrictions on South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi last month ["]to try and tame the spread["] of the omicron variant. The highly mutated strain has since spread to a number of countries across the globe, including every state[?!] in the U.S.

White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci said earlier this week that large gatherings this holiday season are not safe from the coronavirus, even for those fully vaccinated with a booster shot. He also warned that that Christmas travel would increase the spread of the variant even among the fully vaccinated ["with a booster shot"], the BBC reported.
