Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.
Quarantine for an illness is typically limited to those who have been infected or are suspected to have been infected,

Where does the NYT get these idiots? Quarantine was initially for people or ships arriving from places with plague, not ones that had cases of plague. (NYT defenders may try to argue that this counts as "suspected". In that case, the same applies to these Chinese cities)

This is typical of the US press,. They are afraid that people will start noticing that China is one of the few countries that is actually succeeding to fight COVID.

BTW, I see 70.4% full vaccinated in the Netherlands, vs. 71.4 for the UK, a tiny difference. You should compare the Netherlands with the UAE, Portugal, Cuba, or Northern Cyprus. And why give Israel the Orthodox as an excuse and not give the Protestants in the south as a similar excuse for the Netherlands?

Booster shots are now at 50% and overall "full-vaccination" above 86%. Some counties as high as 95% and the Bible Belt around 70%. Due to lack of communication, the minority groups in cities may be as low as 50% and suffer the most from the Covid-19 pandemic. 🥲
