The Omicron variant: sorting fact from myth | WHO Europe |

The latest epidemiological data shows that we are now seeing a rapid increase in the rate of infection of COVID-19 in the WHO European Region, largely as a result of the spread of the new Omicron variant. To put this into scale, in September 2021, we were experiencing over 1 million new COVID-19 cases a week, but by the first week of January 2022 this had increased to more than 7 million reported cases in a single week.

Booster vaccination very effective in preventing severe COVID-19 | RIVM |

Booster injections are extremely effective at preventing hospitalisations for coronavirus, says Dutch public health institute RIVM, after studying hospital figures over a two month period.

The chance of someone who was fully vaccinated, including booster, being admitted to hospital was 33 times lower than that of someone who had not been vaccinated at all.

According to the government's coronavirus dashboard, some 53% of the over 18s have had a booster injection so far.

"after studying the data over a two months period"!!
and for how may weeks will the booster work? for delta? for omicron? and does it work as well when you take a plane or two every week?
