Sanctions Kill ... Stop the War (none / 1)

You cannot stay on the war narrative dictated by the White House and NATO. The confrontation of the West with Russia and China is a choice of economics ... preserving American hegemony and wealth of the oligarchs.

Putin's war is bringing millions to the brink of starvation.

The EU continues to support food security worldwide.

Today we are further increasing our food assistance by €210 million.

This brings our investments to make food systems stronger close to €8 billion until 2024.

The shortfall in nitrogen fertilizers worldwide has little to do with trading restrictions on Russia. It's mostly about price, which is almost wholly defined by the price of the gas used to produce it.

As a result, farmers in Europe, Africa and elsewhere are applying much less chemical fertiliser, because they can't afford it. Since the price of gas in Europe has halved since its peak (storage is full and it's not cold yet), European fertiliser factories which have been sitting idle have restarted production.

The longer-term problem is that agriculture has got to stop depending on fossil fuels.
