Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Grasping with nuances in diplomacy ... rests fully on self-confidence of military power and bi-partisan Congress complete with Russophobes ...

Joe-Boris-Liz on path of intense war talk offering an united front with outgoing NATO SG Stoltenberg ... tactic of Indians Wars, circling the wagons. Awaiting the first strike and praying for the best. Having no opening for diplomacy, positions taken are solid rock, as a result the reaction of Sergei Lavrov a meeting of a mute communicating with deaf ears.

Imagine we wait 10 days for the Russian military exercises to expire and all young recruits can go back to their bases and a small contingent will remain.

In the old days of Soviet Communism and the Politburo, we would be quite uncomfortable with octogenarians on Red Square and military parades. How come I get that same creepy feeling of a leader not in full command ...

... not much later the state collapsed.

We'll see...

I'm not betting any money on the outcome ... especially not a bottle of beautiful French wine!

Understand the people in Kyiv are going about their normal business ... living already 8 years under these conditions. Under the rightwing fascist militia there is some anxious nervousness. They will be doing the fighting.

Neither am I. Folks who pretend to "know Putin's mind" are lying.

Well, you don't have to "pretend" to know "his" mind, if you just listen (ok, read) to them:

President Putin's speech in Munich, 2007 Even Wikipedia knows that "the speech expressed significant points of future politics of Russia driven by Putin".

Medvedev's proposal for European security treaty, 2009, when he was the president of Russia. Now he's vice-president of the Security Council, which kinda makes him the vice-grand vizier of Russian security issues (likely in reality Patrushev in Nr. 2 and Medevedev Nr. 3, but close to the top, still).

Agreement on Measures to Ensure the Security of the Russian Federation and Member States of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, 2021

Treaty between the United States of America and the Russian Federation on Security Guarantees, 2021

One might want to read these and then, if not understand, at least have an inkling of what the Russian leadership has in their mind, almost as if they told it themselves.

I think it's much, much harder to understand what EU wants, or what USA wants (although destruction of EU and Russia come to mind). NATO is the only easy one, it's only purpose is to keep on existing, no matter what. Since nobody cares what Ukraine wants, it's not worth anybody's while to figure it out

Great stuff thx.

Have heard this bullsh**t now so often ... lead up to the Iraq War ... US/UK combo of lies and militarized propaganda in 2002/03.

Read the playbook of the Cuban Missile Crisis ... Kennedy papers.

I said that there could be no quid pro quo... this was a decision that would have to be made by NATO. 🤥 😂

However, President Kennedy ... had ordered their removal some time ago, and it was our judgment that, within a short time after this crisis was over, those missiles [Jupiters] would be gone. [stationed in Turkey]
