The mayor of Kreminna, Volodymyr Struk, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the heart on 2 March. According to his wife, he was abducted on 1 March by people in camouflage uniforms. At one time, he was the deputy from the "Party of Regions", supported Russia, was suspected of promoting the self-proclaimed "Luhansk People's Republic" group, but he won the 2020 elections.

On 1 March, the Luhansk Regional Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case for treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code) against the head of the Markivka amalgamated territorial community and the head of the Milovka amalgamated territorial community. They are accused of having sided with Russia and helped the Russians to carry out subversive activities against Ukraine.
