Abu Akleh shooting: fatal shot came from Israeli forces, says OHCHR

Israeli forces were behind the fatal shooting of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank - not indiscriminate Palestinian firing - the UN human rights office, OHCHR, alleged on Friday.

Ms. Akleh - an experienced television journalist familiar with reporting in the Occupied Palestinian Territories - was killed on 11 May, as she attempted to report on an arrest operation by Israeli Security Forces and clashes in Jenin refugee camp in the northern occupied West Bank.

Well, at least the Palestinian-American journalist wasn't dismembered and dumped in acid ... so no comparison with the cruel murder of Jamal Khashoggi under direction of the Saudi Crown-Prince Muhammad Salman.

No reason to limit ties with Israeli leadership, nor delay upcoming visit to Jerusalem. Our greatest ally can flaunt International law on a daily basis and discard UN Charter provisions, torture and imprison without a trial or by military court without fair legal representation

Shireen Abu Aqleh killed by 'seemingly well-aimed' Israeli bullet, UN says | The Guardian |

The UN has said its investigations have found that the shot that killed Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh on 11 May was fired by Israeli forces.

The Palestinian-American journalist, who was wearing a vest and helmet marked "press", was killed while covering an Israeli army operation in Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

A slap on the wrist by US White House would be too harsh, in private conversation we'll make clear these acts are "not helpful".
