Michel: frank cooperation with Rome, commitment to defend the borders

"We have to make decisions for the defense of the European internal market which will be decisive for the next 10 years. Thanks to the frank and sincere president Meloni, whom I appreciate very much". This was stated by the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, at the end of the meeting at Palazzo Chigi. 

"In recent months we have had significant increases in irregular migratory movements, not only in Italy but everywhere. We must be very committed to supporting the defense and protection of the external borders of the EU and those of Italy, which are also the external borders of 'Union,' Michel later said. "To be effective we must be mobilized in cooperation with third countries, not only of origin but also of transit, especially in Africa. There has been talk of Tunisia, Libya and other countries on the southern shore of the Mediterranean".
