US State Department on Foreign Policy Middle East

Condoleezza Rice says Israeli settlement plans "not helpful" | Reuters - March 12, 2008 |

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, in rare public criticism of Israel, said on Wednesday that plans to build hundreds of new homes in a Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank were unhelpful for peace.

"The United States considers the expansion of settlement activity to be not consistent with Israeli obligations under the road map and we have made that very clear. I have also said that it is certainly not helpful for the peace process," Rice told U.S. lawmakers.

The Palestinians have denounced Israeli settlement expansion plans as a blow to U.S.-brokered peace talks, which were briefly derailed last week following an Israeli offensive into Gaza.

As the Clinton administration was, so too George Bush was very protective to allow Israel frustrate any advances towards peace in the Middle East. The United States assumed to role of mediator but was never an unbiased broker.

Sharon and Netanyahu exploited the 9/11 attacks on America to equate the Palestinian cause for freedom as Islamic terror that should be smashed. After the Second Intifada and Jenn massacre, Ariel Sharon took the bold step to pull Israel's illegal settlements out of Gaza and intended to limit settlements in the West Bank to come to a peace agreement. Unfortunately Sharon was stricken by a hersen infarct and fell into coma. George Bush in his 2004 re-election campaign proudly promised there will be a Palestinian State in 2005. Never happened of course and the war crimes and abuse of human rights intensified. The rest is dark history of the Jewish State of Israel. Apartheid is a crime on everyday basis. Boycot West Bank products from Jewish settlements.

Settlements 'may not be helpful' to peace, Trump tells Israel | France24 - March 2, 2017 |

President Donald Trump warned Israel that constructing new settlements "may not be helpful" to Middle East peace efforts, striking a tougher line with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government.

Trump has been perceived as sympathetic to the settlements, which are considered illegal by most of the international community. Shortly before taking office, he vigorously criticised the Obama administration for not vetoing a United Nations Security Council measure condemning settlements. [US abstained in UNSC vote on 23 Dec. 2016 ]

More out of spite against Trump than intended to further the chances for peace and a Palestinian state.

Obama just took a parting shot at Israel -- and Trump -- at the UN

Israel meddling in the 2016 was useful to nudge candidate Donald Trump into the White House. Four years Trump simple showed his appreciation as his career is build on Quid pro Quo. US Embassy opening in Jerusalem, shutting down Palestine House in East Jerusalem, expulsion of NGOs working towards human rights and giving  peace a chance. Dissent was not allowed and censorship worked as usual. Not a democracy ...
