Ukrainian deputy agriculture minister Markiyan Dmytrasevych acknowledged the struggles of the war-torn country's Western neighbours at a hearing in the European Parliament on Monday (24 April).

While the deputy minister stressed that farmers in neighbouring countries must be able to "continue work as comfortably as possible," he noted that the Ukrainian farmers cannot stop selling their grain as it's the "only way for them to survive".

Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Mykola Solskyi, will participate virtually at the start of a discussion on the market situation at the meeting of EU agriculture ministers on Tuesday (25 April).

At the same Parliament hearing, [the European] Commission['s] experienced representative Michael Scannell - in his last innings [!] for the Commission [EC] after 29 years as the EU executive Deputy Director-General in charge of Directorates E, G and H - acknowledged that there has been "leakage" [FKA glut, deluge, dumping] into the EU market of imports [sic] intended for third countries.

"We're going to have to act there," he said, adding that, while the action is being undertaken, "more needs to be done to achieve our goals," he said, calling this a "very sensitive phase where we need to cooperate more closely."
