Welcome to European Tribune. It's gone a bit quiet around here these days, but it's still going.

Exactly a copy how the housing crisis in the Netherlands developed during the last fifteen years. Free market economy with the VVD party of Mark Rutte. Problem also supported by the EU policy in Brussels demanding a free market economy.

Changing tax incentives and some legislation giving owners less rights pushes investments to be pulled out of rental housing projects. The new coalition Rutte IV [a full year needed to finalize agreements] has a nitrogen crisis due to farmers, builders of housing and office space, passenger flights, road and bridge construction, while planology engineering is lacking.

Construction has been halted due to emission limits enforced by Brussels and Dutch courts. Rutte sitting on his hands for over a decade. Creating chaos to force through harsh policy hurting people unnecessarily. Rutte got clobbered in last election cyc,e for provinces and seats in the Senate. A minority government with the slightest of majorities in House of Parliament, Tweede Kamer.

With rising building cost due to the Ukraine war campaign, inflation and rising mortgage rates, new housing projects have stalled. Houses are nor being sold. The coalition promised to build 100,000 houses each year for the coming ten years. None often conditions in place to meet, or come close to such a target. Blaming Russia of course.
