In the US investors can't snap up residential property fast enough.  Condos, townhouses, single family, all being grabbed and converted to rentals, driving up the home ownership market.  Then they jack up the rents because they know people are stuck.  Can't afford to buy or rent except out in Turdville where there are no jobs unless you can work remotely, and HR departments full of fascist assholes are working day and night to make that option go away.  No housing security, no income security, no healthcare, because those are nice things, and nice things are SO-SHUL-IZM!  This is a banana republic with nukes.
