The opposition wants Rutte to leave the Torentje immediately: he would have put self-interest above the national interest

The left-wing and right-wing opposition want to use the parliamentary debate on the fall of the cabinet on Monday to submit a motion of no confidence against Mark Rutte. If that motion is supported by a majority, the VVD leader will have to resign as prime minister immediately.

Losing the no confidence vote would force the resignation of Rutte and withdrawal of his VVD ministers from the cabinet. A minority coalition would form a caretaker cabinet with Sigrid Kaag (D66) as acting prime minister until the election in November and months thereafter as a new cabinet is formed. Interesting times indeed. By pulling the plug on Rutte IV, Rutte took a gamble ... he should pay a heavy price. I am sure the proxy war US v. Russia will continue without him. No sweat.
