Early on I had chosen for the hacking group who established xs4all as provider .. renowned Gonggrijp as one of the founders. A few years back the provider merged with KPN who cooperates with the Dutch state security agencies on data collection on Internet and all communication networks. Same role as AT&T under George Bush in the States.

I tried to stay away from price fixing enterprises not allowing competition ... the European Union have done consumer much disservice by the "free-market" regulations forcing public utilities to be sold to private business. The energie sector [was owned by municipalities] but also telephony, railroad and other major infrastructure projects. Many big, costly failures.

I refused cable network by Ziggo as they limited viewing and for me a risk of censorship. Instead I invested in satellite reception and can find global stations across Europe and the Middle East.

To use a VPN you first need an abo. I cannot afford a 10e increase in my monthly abo. I was paying 35 which was already a scandal for a slow internet, and now they are all aligned on 44 and more!
No more USB sim, and the portable wifi mini box is a luxury product for corporate visitors.
