On Wednesday, a Nigerian delegation led by the former Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi, met the junta's leader, Gen. Abdourahmane Tchiani.
The Honorable Muhammad Sanusi II was delighted with the conviviality that prevailed during the exchanges with the President of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Fatherland. In particular, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church from Nigeria, Primate Elijah Ayodele warned the US not to interfere in the internal affairs of the country and let the people of Niger decide their future without any outside pressure.

"Leave Niger to decide its future. I use this moment to appeal to international communities not to attempt shedding blood in the Republic of Niger in a move toward restoring the ousted president," he said.

Ayodele's warnings came as Acting US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland met with Niger's military leadership [07.08.23] for more than two hours of "very frank and at times quite difficult" talks in Niamey.

When Nuland met with the coup leaders earlier this week, she was denied access to both Tchiani[Tiani] and Bazoum. A separate delegation comprised of ECOWAS, the United Nations and the African Union was barred from coming at all.
