After 7 years political asylum in Ecuador's embassy and 1,901 days of unlawful detention in from HM Prison Belmarsh, UK high court, having received "conditional bail," in effect extradites Wikileaks founder and editor Julian Assange to appear at a US district court in the Northern Mariana Islands.

As agreed with the US Justice Department, 19 June, Assange will plead guilty on 26 June to one felony count of conspiracy to publish classified US federal documents in exchange for a sentence of time served and as yet specified terms of liberty. Clemency expressed by this event is met with incredulity or dismissed by free press advocates habituated to trade and government restrictions on reportage in advanced democracies.
