GreenLeft-PvdA reports PVV MPs over Timmermans Death Threats The fact that two members of parliament are spreading fake photographs of a colleague, provoking and allowing death threats against him is a "scandalous new low" in the parliamentary democracy," emeritus professor of constitutional law Paul Bovend'Eert told the paper. "This not only affects Timmermans, it affects the authority of the parliament itself," he said. "If you have people walking around doing this sort of thing to a colleague, it will harm the dignity and reputation of the lower house of parliament. And this at a time when people's confidence in politics is already low." He also said it was "incomprehensible" that PVV leader Geert Wilders, who has lived in safehouses under strict security for 21 years, has not ousted the two MPs. If the men are prosecuted, they could face a prison sentence of two years for slander, privacy expert Bart Schermer said. Neither Maikel Boon nor Patrick Crijns responded to questions from the Volkskrant but the Facebook page was taken down shortly after they were approached. Geert Wilders, who had previously used content from the page on his X account, initially declined to comment but has since apologised to Timmermans. In a short message on social media he said the actions were "inappropriate and scandalous" but did not announce any measures against the MPs.

The original 4 party coalition had a majority of 88 seats of which are there are 47 left in the latest poll. Geert Wilders already resigned from the coalition as did the NSC on the disregarded of the Gaza genocide. Thus the caretaker coalition of VVD (projected 14 seats) and the BBB (4 seats) .... a total of 18 seats out of 150 seat parliament are ruling the nation. Ridiculous ..
With no party seen close to winning an outright majority, various new coalitions are likely to be under consideration. [_link]— Bloomberg (@business) October 25, 2025

Election watch: Polls point to a neck and neck race The latest EenVandaag/Verian poll has the far-right PVV on 34 seats in the 150-seat lower house of parliament, while Peil.nl, compiled by Maurice de Hond, puts the party on 29 seats and Ipsos/I&O on 26.

Experience learns the polls are way off the mark due to a majority of voters make up their mind while at the voting location. No mail-in voting ... still with a red pencil and manual counting. The exit polls on the evening of voting are quite accurate. Amnesia and Gaza Genocide

Global Hunger Crisis: 733 Million at Risk as Africa Struggles
The latest SOFI report reveals a troubling global hunger crisis, with 733 million people facing hunger in 2023. This number highlights a significant setback, bringing hunger levels back to where they were in 2008-2009. Africa is particularly affected, with one in five people struggling with food insecurity, while progress in Latin America and stability in Asia offer some contrast. The report warns that if current trends persist, 582 million people will be chronically undernourished by 2030, with half of them in Africa. We sit down with Gbadebo Odularu, CEO of No Hunger Food Bank, to discuss the report's findings, personal insights on the impact of hunger, and potential solutions. He sheds light on how hunger intersects with education and healthcare, the role of technology and innovative solutions, and the impact of climate change on food security. Odularu also addresses the effectiveness of social protection programmes and policy advocacy in tackling hunger. Watch now for an in-depth discussion on these critical issues.
How can we reduce global food insecurity? | Al Jazeera - Inside Story |
Hunger around the world has reached alarming levels according to a new multi-agency report on global food insecurity. For the fifth year, acute food insecurity has increased, impacting hundreds of millions of people. It's posing a major challenge to the United Nations goal of ending hunger by 2030. The spreading conflict, rather than climate change, is the biggest cause. Has enough been done to address the crisis?
