Pointless melodrama on a tree stump

by someone Sat May 26th, 2007 at 03:55:16 AM EST

A tree I never saw, was sawed, and left a stump.

from the diaries ~ whataboutbob

One morning, a curious white bulb, protruding.

The same afternoon, a proud cap unfolding, revealing

a soft, delicate underbelly.

Ageing well, with bronze-like shine, hairs of youth long gone.

This afternoon, my old friend, brutally slain.
Violated remains carelessly tossed to the ground.
In the background, the culprit-monster watches, silently.

In loving memory

I did my best. Unfortunately, circumstance conspired to a tragedy.

Tragedy?!? What a beautiful series of photos - birth, growth, full beauty and final decay! Amazing!

Well, it didn't get to finish its natural life, thus the tragedy. This is right outside the door of the building where I work. I got some funny looks from colleagues who saw me photographing it twice or thrice a day...

This diary made me laugh out loud.  Condolences on the loss of your friend.  (Those are two things I never thought I'd say together in the same comment....)

I only grinned, but I'm grumpy.

Hm. For some reason I can't link to the actual page, just the FP.

Click the "Brainwatch" link on the right.
