[Early] Friday Photography Blog No.53

by In Wales Thu Sep 18th, 2008 at 02:23:38 PM EST

Get yer skates on, the photography blog is early this week!

Photobucket

On account of having to get up very early to fly to Paris in the morning, this week's blog goes up a day early. Lucky us!

The blog is in three parts this week - one for "Ask the Expert" about anything you like, composition, technical things and so on.

Second is "Old Things", which as clarified in an earlier OT can be wide open to interpretation and may also include humans, although apparently Melanchthon doesn't count in that category.

The usual final part is for "Photos As Usual", whatever you want to post. Izzy, note - this can include shoes and shopping, let there be no limit to your imagination. Dazzle us with your offerings!

Please try to keep to 600 pixels width and less than 100kb in file size and take a look at Wednesday Photography Blog No.2 for the technical bits on how to post. Please reply under one of the headers and not directly to this diary.

Here is the Master list of previous photoblogs.

Please enjoy!

This was originally built in 1800 or thereabouts as a farmhouse. It was moved stone by stone to St fagans museum of Welsh life.  The red paint was meant to keep evil spirits away.

Here's a nice table inside it.

An old wartime post office and a red telephone box. We don't see many of those these days (phone boxes or post offices...)

The old ironmongers. Also in St Fagan's. The only thing missing in this museum is a pub really.  They have a bakery.

Did you restore it yourself?

Knuckles don`t need restoring. Hah.
This is the second time I changed the look of it, since I got this one maybe 20 some years ago. It was a replacement for the one I`d had for years, but was stolen. A very bad day, that one.
I usually collect the parts I need to achieve the look I want.
That sometimes takes years.
This incarnation I did about 8 years ago. It looks exactly like this today.
I don`t do paint, though.
But I know every nut & bolt internally & externally.
The bike is not a restoration as there are numerous details that are not original to a `37.
The tail light is a later year one from the 40`s. The 37 one was part of the fender, for instance. For that reason, although one can still find one, they are very expensive. I`m not a purist in that sense. It was originally a "jockey" shift with a "heel & toe" clutch. I prefer suicide, so I have it set up that way. There are many other details that aren`t up to snuff as far as a restoration goes, but most people wouldn`t know, & as for me, I could care less.

You had me stumped on ZATAOMM.
I read it many years ago, but had never seen it referred to that way.
Thank you for the compliment & you are very welcome.
Now if I new how to file my images, I`d be ahead of the game.
I generate images faster than I can catalogue them. Now I fear it`s a little late.
