ET Paris Meet-up, September 2010 - Final

by Fran Fri Aug 27th, 2010 at 02:19:05 AM EST

It's time to get ready for the ET Meet-up in Paris, which this year will take place on Saturday

September 11th.

The adress for the Meet-up is:

Le Cantalou, 8 Avenue de Versailles

starting 12:00 noon

Here a link to the map.

Only two weeks to go until the this years Paris Meet-Up.

Let us know who intents to participate and as most of us might arrive already on Friday, ideas for a programm will be welcome.

Also links and information for accomodation are welcome.

So far most people used to stay at the Passy-Home Hotel, which is a simple but nice Hotel. This year again, they will give a discount for the people coming to the Meetup. The rate is €89.- for a single room, including tax and breakfast.

When you make your room reservation, please add ET MEETUP 2010.

As you can see in the blockquote the hotel has been willing to give us a discount.

The place in the picture is were we meet, if there are any changes I will add them.

Will attend:
afew
Bernard
Cyrrile
dvx
geezer in Paris and Ivonne

I have not been around much lately, so I might not have seen comments about attendance at the Meetup in other Diaries or OT's. Please leave a note here if you are not on the list.

I'll be arriving Friday 8am, but I have some shopping to do in the morning, and can only check into my hotel at noon. So I should be able to meet from 2pm on (maybe 3pm, to be on the safe side).

I will have to take a look at my finances when I get back to Copenhagen. It looks like I can be there, but I want to add up some numbers before confirming.

I just had a look at my finances, and they are too perilous at the moment to permit international travel. But I do hope that you'll bring a toast or two to absent friends.

Unfortunately it seems I'm in the 'need a lottery win' camp with most of the rest of the UK contingent.

Should we have a UK meet sometime? It's been a while.

Count me in -although my wife would argue that I live in France more than in the UK (an overstatement, I think).

Very quick note from the law library in Melun:
Ivonne and I will likely be there. As most of you know, we swear off the net for a summer of travel, and now that we are back in circulation--or will be tomorrow-- we will be there.
Look forward to seeing all our friends soon.

I will not be at the meetup this year but I will be in Paris from this (Monday) afternoon to Thursday morning and again for 24h-ish from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

Those of you with my British or Spanish mobile numbers can call me at either if you'd like to meet.

My nearest thing to a programme will involve a tour of some Parisian markets on the Friday. Haven't really got a plan together, but I do have a website detailing all of them.

I'm a foodie rather than antiques or such so that'll be the focus

We all had a great time two years ago at the Assiete du Fromage in the quartier Mouffetard. And many did not get a chance to walk around and see that picturesqe area because we were so late eating.

As I remember we had a very nice meal for 20 euros which included a small pitcher of wine although I'm sure we drank much more than that.

Here's a link to the photos of that evening.

If you all are up for a repeat of the Assiete du Fromage I could try to arrange it.

I'm afraid my slim chances of making it appear to have evaporated due to pressure of other business.  I hope you guys have a good time and hatch a few good plots in my absence. Sorry not to meet up with old friends and make a few new in the flesh - so to speak - this cyber stuff can only take things so far.

Perhaps we should have a doom porn meet-up in Ireland sometime - to pick over the entails of the phantom tiger that never was and the perhaps nourish a few green shoots of recovery.  I hope to do an optimistic diary soon, but am still somewhat short on material...

The Irish cabinet meets today to consider a further 3 Billion in budget cuts for public services and a total of 25 Billion in subventions for Anglo Irish Bank which they acknowledge will never be recovered.  Even the FT says they should force a debt equity swap on bondholders but apparently the German banks now own us and haf to be appeased.
