US `threatened Ecuador with trade sanctions' if it introduced UN breastfeeding resolution | The Independent |

Donald Trump's administration has threatened Ecuador with trade sanctions if it introduces a United Nations resolution to encourage breastfeeding.

The US had supposedly asked for language asking governments to "protect, promote, and support breastfeeding" to be removed. The resolution ultimately passed but not before world health officials were shocked at the behaviour of the US delegation at the May UN World Health Assembly in Geneva, The New York Times reported.

Ecuadorians, facing having important military aid from the US rescinded on top of harsh sanctions on critical goods, backed down. But, the US did not threaten Russia in the same manner.

An unnamed Russian delegate said the country stepped up to back and help pass the resolution because they felt  "it is wrong when a big country tries to push around some very small countries, especially on an issue that is really important for the rest of the world".

The US mission to the UN nor the State Department responded to a request for comment.

It appeared, however, the US was asking to have the language removed as a sign of support for the $70bn infant formula industry which relies on mothers not exclusively breastfeeding. Baby food lobbyists were in attendance as observers to the meeting.

and military "intervention". (Untold Smedley Butler Confessions)

yeah, pimping infant formula --especially in places where potable water is scarce-- is a pretty old humanitarian aid scam. Right up there with the impermeable border and surplus labor.

I'll save my shock for "language" condemning wet-nurse trafficking, which undermines ahhh "legitimate lactation work".

Yeah, we've been fighting the public display of tiddies for a long time.  Aside from working for the greater glory of Nestle et al., such displays would undoubtedly provoke our otherwise pure and virtuous masculine population to engage in lecherous grasping, with Our Glorious Drumpfenfuehrer leading the pack.

Some men just hate women or feel they have "authority" over women and their rights.

Republican says men should be allowed to grab women's nipples if they are breastfeeding in public | The Independent |

Although men and women are legally allowed to expose their nipples in the state of New Hampshire, some state representatives have taken to social media to combat women's rights to expose their bodies.

New Hampshire State Rep. Josh Moore said on Facebook that men should be allowed to grab the nipples of breastfeeding mothers if the law banning women exposing their breasts did not pass. The Facebook post was archived by Slate.

Yes, you can breastfeed in public
