More below the fold ...

Why are president Trump and Prime-minister Netanyahu seeking support of far-right groups, Islamophobes and even white supremacists to battle for "democracy" and "freedom" by attacking Leftists  and Socialists? A very ugly and indiscriminate war by labeling opposition groups "terrorists".

What the 9/11 attack on America by Sunni Saudis has wrought in nearly two decades ... plain for all to see!

The danger of pardoning PM Netanyahu

A pardon for Prime Ministet Benjamin Netanyahu on the condition he resigns from his position is the brainchild of Yisrael Beytenu leader Avigdor Liberman.

There is a lot of sense to this. Netanyahu retiring would mean Israel would be able to pull itself out of the political hole that he himself dug.

His retirement would mean an end to the sorry state we find ourselved -- with a country run by a man facing fraud, bribery, and breach of trust charges, who has spent the last month inciting against the rule of law.

... Obama had privately spoken about the Vermont senator seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, saying while he is mostly taking a hands off approach to the primary, if Sanders started to win he would "speak up to stop him".

... Sanders is the candidate most outspoken about putting a stop to the "great" neoliberal experiment that privitized all services, hallowed out the middle class and removed most social welfare safety nets, an experiment Obama was an enthusiastic facilitator of.

Jordan Valley annexation to be put on hold amid ICC probe | Ynet News |

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cancels a meeting of an inter-ministerial team intended to discuss the annexation of the Jordan Valley, following the International Criminal Court's decision to launch a probe into alleged Israeli war crimes against the Palestinians.

Netanyahu announced in September - a week before a national ballot - that Israel will establish its sovereignty over the Jordan Valley if his Likud party would win the elections, effectively triggering the disputed territory's annexation.

With another election due to take place March 2, the prime minister is believed to have intended to double down on his promise. The government, however, was concerned the meeting would further antagonize the Hague and affect the findings of a preliminary investigation, expected to be published by the ICC very soon.

"Because of the prosecutor's decision in the Hague, the issue of the Jordan Valley annexation will be put on a long hold," said one government source.

Bensouda, wrote in her recommendation that Israel has not only failed to stop the settlement construction in the West Bank, the Jewish State also intends to annex some parts of the territory. The prosecutor specifically mentioned Netanyahu's pre-election speech as an example of Israel's intentions.

'NY Times' report on killing of Gaza family is part damage control for Israel's military

The slant in today's New York Times report about how Israel's air force killed civilians in Gaza started right in the headline. In the online edition it reads: "In Strike That Killed 5 Children, Israel Said It Took Out Gaza Militant. Now It Isn't Sure."

I first encountered "take out" as a euphemism for "killed" when I reported from southern Africa in the 1970s. The white-minority regime in Rhodesia used it to minimize their repression of the black guerrilla movement that eventually won independence and renamed the country Zimbabwe. Does the New York Times really want to associate itself with this ugly history?

The Times article does start with a quick first-hand report from an eyewitness to the terrible Israeli midnight aerial attack on Deir-El-Balah, in Gaza. Ismail al-Swarka lost eight of his relatives, five of whom were children.

But then the paper detours into a joint damage control exercise with the Israeli military. The Times says the military explains that "civilian casualties are unavoidable in Gaza's teeming neighborhoods." It adds that "Israel accuses militants of using civilians, including their own relatives, as human shields. . ." And, hammering home the propaganda point, the paper says Israel "takes numerous precautions to prevent unnecessary civilian casualties."

The paper also muddies the actual news, by insinuating that despite the civilian deaths, there might actually have been "an Islamic Jihad military infrastructure" in the area that Israel attacked.

Mandela and Apartheid by Oui @EuroTrib on Dec. 6, 2013

Israel and the white-supremacist regime of South Africa, a stain on all leaders from Labor to Likud. Working together as two-apartheid regimes on the nuclear bomb and most horrific biological and chemical weapons. One apartheid state still exists, I hope it encourages Obama and other world leaders to push forward on a two-state option and an independent Palestinian state recognized for Arab citizens only. Just as Netanyahu wants recognition for a Jewish state of Israel.
