Preaching Open Rebellion; Trump Unhinged

by Oui Sat Apr 18th, 2020 at 07:44:04 AM EST

Several bits of news items I posted, the larger picture is a U.S. President becoming unhinged as poll numbers fall and looking forward a double whammy recession for the greatest economy ever ... for the 1%. In adversity, the world sees true leaders and Trump is one prolific failure ... a loser. Held up the IRS payment of cheques to the American People because his signature should be on it. A gift from the White House, the President You have Chosen. His faithful in full lunacy calling Trump the Chosen One by the Almighty fulfilling the Book of the End of Times. Let the so-called Christians of the wealth preachers reread the Bible ... all that's prophecised has come to pass. The problem is in today's world where values are bungled, the people are following the wrong leaders. A dangerous phenomena is developing ... it was already in the cards when one cheats to get elected. Democracy doesn't work, it's been undermined by greed from Wall Street and the military-intelligence industrial complex.

Now to today's alarming headlines. First question asked as the Republican party bungled the Impeachment process, how to get rid of a dis-functional leader becoming more dangerous by the day?

Governors and mayors, not the federal government, have the broadest quarantine and isolation authority, as the constitution leaves that kind of police power in the hands of the states.

Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has the authority to detain people suspected of having an infectious disease without getting approval from state and local officials, that authority is rarely used and experts on public health law say that any attempt to leverage that power to create a federally mandated quarantine would likely be challenged in court.

We knew Trump felt pretty uncomfortable sitting in that chair behind the desk in the Oval Office ... the inscription: "The Buck Stops Here" has been replaced by the bust of Winston Churchill. Knowingly stupid, I wasn't aware he has surrounded himself with more of the same in his room of advisors. Tweet along Mr. President, hop-a-long Lone Ranger as the Great States of America are being infected by one of so many coronaviruses that could have been quarantined in time. Defending Red States from Blue States will lead to your demise ... the sooner the better. The USA has been turned around into a "shithole" nation by Hollywood's apprentice. Nice experiment ... should have been modelled by London's Imperial College and approved by lab tests beforehand. Too Bad!

Thousands of Americans backed by rightwing donors gear up for protests | The Guardian |

A majority of Americans support the lockdowns, with a Pew Research Center poll finding that 66% are concerned state governments will lift restrictions on public activity too quickly. But protests, helped by media coverage, have spread around the country.

The two groups behind the "operation gridlock" rally in Michigan on Wednesday have ties to the Republican party and the Trump administration.

The Michigan Freedom Fund, which said it was a co-host of the rally, has received more than $500,000 from the DeVos family, regular donors to rightwing groups.

The other host, the Michigan Conservative Coalition, was founded by Matt Maddock, now a Republican member of the state house of representatives. The MCC also operates under the name Michigan Trump Republicans, and in January held an event featuring several members of the Trump campaign.

"Absolutely the Michigan event was a huge inspiration and it was a huge success," said Evie Harris, organizer of a ReOpen Maryland protest planned for the state capitol on Saturday.

Thousands drove to the Michigan state capitol in Lansing, while the Michigan Freedom Fund purchased Facebook advertising to promote the rally. Protesters, many waving Trump campaign signs, honked their horns and chanted for Governor Gretchen Whitmer to end the stay-at-home rules.

The protest was covered exhaustively by the rightwing media. Harris said her Facebook following grew from "700-800 people" to more than 15,000 members following the Michigan rally, inspiring her to organize "Operation Gridlock Annapolis" for Saturday.

irony France says no evidence Covid-19 linked to Wuhan research lab set up with French help
In 2004, France signed an agreement with China to establish a research lab on infectious diseases of biosafety level 4, the highest level, in Wuhan, according to a French decree signed by then-foreign minister Michel Barnier.
The 300 million yuan ($42 million) lab was completed in 2015, and finally opened in 2018, with the founder of a French bio-industrial firm, Alain Merieux, acting as a consultant in its construction. The institute also has a P3 laboratory that has been in operation since 2012.

Protesters in Michigan and other states claim to speak for ordinary citizens, but are also supported by street-fighting far-right groups

The rightwing groups behind wave of protests against Covid-19 restrictions | The Guardian |

While protesters in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and other states claim to speak for ordinary citizens, many are also supported by street-fighting rightwing groups like the Proud Boys, conservative armed militia groups, religious fundamentalists, anti-vaccination groups and other elements of the radical right.

Placards identified the Michigan Proud Boys as participants in the vehicle convoy. Near the state house, local radio interviewed a man who identified himself as "Phil Odinson".

In fact the man is Phil Robinson, the prime mover in a group called the Michigan Liberty Militia, whose Facebook page features pictures of firearms, warnings of civil war, celebrations of Norse paganism and memes ultimately sourced from white nationalist groups like Patriot Front.

The pattern of rightwing not-for-profits promoting public protests while still more radical groups use lockdown resistance as a platform for extreme rightwing causes looks set to continue in events advertised in other states over coming days.

In Idaho on Friday, protesters plan to gather at the capitol building in Boise to protest anti-virus restrictions put in place by the Republican governor, Brad Little.

The protest has been heavily promoted by the Idaho Freedom Foundation (IFF), which counts among its donors "dark money" funds linked to the Koch brothers such as Donors Capital Fund, and Castle Rock foundation, a seeded with part of the fortune of Adolph Coors, the rightwing beer magnate.

Hazardous Liberty link ...

In Washington state, meanwhile, which for now has brought one of the worst outbreaks in the country under a measure of control, a Republican state committeeman, Tyler Miller, has organized a protest at the state capitol on Saturday.

Miller, who is active in the Kitsap county Republican party, was involved in passing a resolution in January in support of representative Matt Shea, who was excluded from the state house's GOP caucus after a report commissioned by house found that he had participated in domestic terrorism.

Hundreds of Facebook users have indicated that they will be attending his "Hazardous Liberty" rally, and a parallel event in Richland, Washington.

Included in that number are members of the 3% of Washington, a group which has held a series of open-carry rallies in Seattle, featuring speeches from the far-right protest leader, Joey Gibson.

As anyone who has met Putin will tell you, you can bargain as hard as you like with the Russian president. You can even be on opposing sides of two regional wars, in Syria and Libya, and still maintain a working relationship, as the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan continues to do.

But what you must not do is back Putin into a corner. This is what the Saudi crown prince did by giving Putin ultimatums and shouting at him. Putin just shouts back, knowing that the Russian balance of payments is in better shape to play that game of poker than the Saudi one is.

MBS is finding out now how weak his cards are. To be fair, before he made that call, he took advice from someone as arrogant and unthinking as he is. US President Donald Trump's son-in-law and Middle East advisor Jared Kushner listened to what the Saudi crown prince was about to do and did not object.

The Criwn Prince should have taken advice from BIG bad Prince Bandar ... threatened Putin with AQ bombings before the 2014 Winter Olympics ... Putin asked the prince whether they possessed nuclear-tipped ICBMs. 😁

Litigation of morale hazard is trash for numerous, entirely conventional legal reasons--regardless of Trump's belligerent gibberish and false accusations--domestic and international.
Responses to the article perfectly illustrate the true problem to be solved IN ORDER to inhibit, cure or "flatten the curve," of so-called community spread of SARS-CoV-2 DROPLETS.

Note here "Taiwan, Singapore, New Zealand and South Korea" and conspicuous absence of Chinese civilian mobilization among press approved confirmed case investigation ("contact tracing") by state agents, method without details.

8:30 AM · Apr 21, 2020·Hootsuite Inc.
Setting aside futility of contact tracing absent diagnostic tests and enforced "probable case" quarantine or custodial care (hospitalization), a ridiculous proportion of the US population--like other liberal, developed nations-- daily entertains high-risk behavior, so is unwilling or unable to be part of the solution (identification, treatment); they will refuse to cooperate in assuring their own medical health. Each dramatically associates surveillance with totalitarian instrumentality, state police force, abridged civil liberty. They are spoilers in the "we" who are highly unlikely to conform to direction or submit even to test, truthful PH interview, or DIY "app" reporting. Antisocial personalities bound by rhetorical liberty.

Changing the Terms Medical Insurance

First U.S. coronavirus death happened weeks earlier than originally believed

Two deaths on Feb. 6 and Feb. 17 were not initially thought to have been COVID-19-related, but further testing has revealed that they were, the county medical examiner said

Health officials had previously believed that death -- of 68-year-old Santa Clara resident Azar Ahrabi -- to be the first known COVID-19 fatality in the Bay Area.

"We know there was a person diagnosed in late January with the virus -- but to have at least three people right around the beginning of February and late January already have the infection and two of them pass away means the virus has been around for a while," Smith said.

Dr. Rick Bright: Head of Vaccine Development Says He Was Removed for Opposing `Misguided' Hydroxychloroquine Treatment

A doctor who was removed from his role overseeing a federal agency tasked with helping develop the coronavirus vaccine said that he was forced out by the Trump administration after limiting the use of the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine to treat the coronavirus.

Dr. Rick Bright, who had headed the Department of Health and Human Services' Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, or BARDA, since 2016, said in a statement that "clashes with political leadership" led to his sudden removal from the position.

In the Chinese trial remdesivir, given by intravenous infusion, failed to improve patients' condition or reduce the pathogen's presence in the bloodstream, according to draft documents published accidentally by the World Health Organization (WHO).
A screenshot of the WHO posting, captured by the medical news website STAT before it was taken down, said the trial enrolled 237 patients with 158 receiving remdesivir compared with 79 who got a placebo.

The rate of death was similar at 13.9% for remdesivir versus 12.8% in the control group.

"It's still not that large of a study and therefore the statistics coming out of the trial aren't exactly robust," Mizuho analyst Salim Syed said in a research note.
