Fascist Propaganda: Symbolism of Frankenstein

Calling the kettle black ... say hallo to the new Cold War vs. the Communist Party of China. Someone needs to call ping-pong diplomacy of war criminal Henry Kissinger in the Nixon years a GRAVE ERROR!!

Pompeo calls on nations to 'induce' change on 'Frankenstein' China

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took fresh aim at China on Thursday and said Washington and its allies must use "more creative and assertive ways" to press the Chinese Communist Party to change its ways, calling it the "mission of our time."

Speaking at the Nixon Library in President Richard Nixon's birthplace in Yorba Linda, California, Pompeo said the former US leader's worry about what he had done by opening the world to China's Communist Party in the 1970s had been prophetic.

"President Nixon once said he feared he had created a 'Frankenstein' by opening the world to the CCP," Pompeo said. "And here we are."

Nixon, who died in 1994 and was president from 1969-74, opened the way for the establishment of U.S. diplomatic relations with Communist China in 1979 through a series of contacts, including a visit to Beijing in 1972.

Pompeo delivered this speech after Washington's surprise order this week for China to close its Houston consulate.

Henry Kissinger is of course the darling of Democrats on their foreign policy joined by Albright, Brzezinski, Mrs. Clinton and Barack Obama.

More below the fold ...

Chengdu consulate closure chance for US to observe Chinese public opinion | Global Times |

After China ordered the closure of the US consulate in Chengdu, Chinese social media erupted in cheers and applause. The US Chengdu consulate shot to fame in an instant. Some local residents even went to the consulate to join in some fun. Some media outlets broadcast live from the scene, which brought the place further into the limelight.

On social media, there were plenty of sarcastic discussions, including the suggestion the consulate be replaced  with a public toilet or perhaps one of  Chengdu's famed hotpot restaurants. Some people even set off braids of firecrackers, videos of which were widely posted on social media. People who set off the fireworks later received administrative warnings.

All this is a true reflection of the Chinese public's attitude toward the US. I strongly suggest the US pay attention to these sentiments and understand the public's true feelings about current China-US tensions.

In recent days, the US has again recklessly attacked the Communist Party of China (CPC) and tried to separate the CPC from the Chinese people, wrongly thinking such tactics would might actually work. It's hoped that the Chinese public's response to the closure of the US consulate in Chengdu, will help the US reflect on its recent course of actions, and get off this wrong path.

All "progressive" political parties across the Western "Free" World will join the fray ... are they blindfolded?

America 'staring down the barrel of martial law', Oregon senator warns | The Guardian |

America is "staring down the barrel of martial law" as it approaches the presidential election, a US senator from Oregon has warned as Donald Trump cracks down on protests in Portland, the state's biggest city.

Democrat Ron Wyden said the federal government's authoritarian tactics in Portland and other cities posed an "enormous" threat to democracy, while his fellow senator Jeff Merkley described it as "an all-out assault in military-style fashion".

The independent watchdogs for the US justice and homeland security departments said on Thursday they were launching investigations into the use of force by federal agents in Portland, where unidentified officers in camouflage gear have snatched demonstrators off the streets and spirited them away in unmarked vehicles.

But Trump this week announced a "surge" of federal law enforcement to Chicago and Albuquerque, in addition to a contingent already in Kansas City. The move fuelled critics' suspicions that the president was stressing a "law and order" campaign theme at the expense of civil liberties.

Wyden said in a written statement on Thursday: "The violent tactics deployed by Donald Trump and his paramilitary forces against peaceful protesters are those of a fascist regime, not a democratic nation."

U.S. Presidents love to have memories chiseled in stone ... George Herbert "CIA Boss" Bush and the Kuwait Blitz in Gulf War I, Bill Clinton and stealth bombing over Serbia, George Bush together with Vietnam veteran John McCain and the Iraq surge ... all to little avail ... look at the mess the World community lives through, not even mentioning planet Earth ... onwards towards Mars we go!

The absolutely remarkable social media power of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez | CNN The Point |

Within six hours, according to C-SPAN's Jeremy Art, it became the most retweeted post ever sent by the network. Within the tweet's first 24 hours, it has been retweeted more than 95,000 times and has more than 220,000 likes.

The video itself, which runs just short of 10 minutes, has been viewed almost 12 million times, which makes it the sixth most-watched C-SPAN video ever.

Ocasio-Cortez's take-down of Yoho for sexism after he called her a "f**king bitch" following the encounter, according to a reporter from The Hill, clearly struck a chord.

United States absorbing protests and using policing tactics it has advocated and promoted for democracy in dictatorial states.

Warning signals have been rejected in the past as the film of fascism a hundred years past is running in real time.

Trump is calling protesters who disagree with him terrorists. That puts him in the company of the world's autocrats | CNN News |

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly branded anti-racism prowesters in the country as "terrorists," and his promise to "surge" his paramilitary-style units from Portland to other Democrat-run cities in coming weeks shows he is willing to employ the repressive tactics used by autocrats to vilify those who challenge them.

"These tactics include deploying federal agents without identifying insignia in an apparent effort to evade transparency and accountability, snatching people off the street with no apparent reason for apprehension, and using potentially deadly munitions to harm peaceful protesters. These actions are out of control. They are more reflective of tactics of a government led by a dictator, not from the government of our constitutional democratic republic," they wrote, adding they were "chillingly reminiscent of autocratic governments that 'disappear' critics and opponents."

In Egypt, where anti-government protests are essentially banned and forced disappearances are not uncommon, thousands of people were detained at rare demonstrations last year calling for President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's resignation. Rights group Amnesty International said more than 100 detained were under the age of 17, dozens of whom faced charges for being members of terrorist organizations.

In Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan openly describes anti-government protesters as terrorists, and many have been jailed under anti-terror laws, along with journalists, academics and rights activists in the past two years.

And earlier this month in Hong Kong, a 23-year-old pro-democracy protester became the first person to be prosecuted under China's new national security law, widely seen as a way for Beijing to seize powers from the semi-autonomous city. Tong Yong-kit was charged with inciting secession and terrorist activities under the law, accused of ramming his motorbike into a group of police officers.

That Martin Niemoller quote on Nazis isn't a warning, it's a statement of fact. This is just what happens. First the DHS came for Muslims, but you said nothing -- because you were not Muslim. Then ICE came for migrants, but you said nothing -- because you were not a migrant.

Now they have come for you.

In her introductory essay, Hannah-Jones suggests that the Revolution was a reaction to the British abolition movement, arguing that "one of the primary reasons the colonists decided to declare their independence from Britain was because they wanted to protect the institution of slavery [and]...ensure that slavery would continue."

That "fact," she said, has been "[c]onveniently left out of our founding mythology."

Critics say many of the leading revolutionaries opposed slavery. New England, cradle of the revolution, was also a stronghold for anti-slavery sentiment, they say.

Police Alarm 911 Chokehold Early Death

Car drives through Black Lives Matter protest in Aurora, Colorado | The Guardian |

In Colorado, protesters have been drawing attention to the death of Elijah McClain, who was stopped by police while walking down an Aurora street in August 2019 after a 911 caller reported him as suspicious. Police placed him in a chokehold, and paramedics administered 500 milligrams of ketamine, a sedative, to calm him down. He went into cardiac arrest, was later declared brain dead and taken off life support.

Federal Agents Push Into Portland Streets, Stretching Limits of Their Authority | NY Times |

Portland: authorities declare riot as protesters and Trump agents face off | The Guardian |

Authorities declared a riot early on Sunday in Portland, Oregon, where protesters breached a fence surrounding the city's federal courthouse building where US agents have been stationed.

Police described via Twitter the "violent conduct of people downtown" as creating a "grave risk of public alarm". Police demanded people leave the area surrounding the courthouse at around 1.20am and said that those who fail to adhere may be arrested or subjection to teargas and impact weapons.

By 1.40am, both federal officers and Portland police could be seen on the streets surrounding the courthouse, attempting to clear the area and deploying teargas.

In the hours leading up to the riot declaration, thousands of people gathered in the city for another night of protests as demonstrations over George Floyd's killing and the presence of federal agents sent by Donald Trump showed no signs of abating.

Crowds began to march toward the city's federal courthouse around 9.15pm, some marching from five miles away. A large group of demonstrators in the North Portland neighborhood paraded by the police precinct there, which was roped off and had officers in riot gear standing outside the building.

Protesters paused outside a downtown hotel, where federal agents are staying, chanting "Feds go home" and yelling the names of black people killed by police. As protesters marched down the streets, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) posted on social media for people to not walk or block the street as they may be subject to charges such as disorderly conduct and interfering with peace officers.

Hundreds of others crossed the Steel Bridge around 11pm to the courthouse, meeting thousands already teargassed by federal agents. The fence surrounding the building had flowers and banners draped across as agents emerged from the courthouse to inspect it.

Yesterday's Bolsheviki and Today's Deplorables

On August 30, 1921, President Warren G. Tear Gas, Beatings and Projectiles in Portland | Counter Punch by Mike Hastie |

As most of you probably know these demonstrations have been going on in front of the Federal Justice  Center for over 50 straight nights. Since Trump called in the Feds, the  turmoil and violence has escalated. We all know what Trump is doing, the Feds are baiting the demonstrators, and when they react to the  police violence, Fox News is there to convince the American people that the demonstrators are the bad guys, and the police are the good guys. This is a political recipe that is as old as lying itself. The Feds and  the News want to shape public opinion that these violent protests are being committed by mobs of anarchists and thugs.
