Capitol Police complicit ❓

Governing Business-like “Quid pro-Quo” and the Swamp of Corruption

Seeing that noose and scaffold in view of the U.S. Capitol, and hearing of gun shots fired inside the halls of Congress took events out of the realm of bathos and into the realm of abject fear. In the few weeks before Rabin was murdered by a Judeo-fascist assassin, the far-right, led by Bibi Netanyahu held rallies picturing Rabin in an SS uniform. They paraded with coffins bearing Rabin’s name, and nooses whose purpose was clear. It was a perfect storm of hate for Rabin’s policies, endorsing the Oslo Accords and peace with the Palestinians. It only took a few settler rabbis in whom Yigal Amir confided, to issue a pulsa di nura which permitted the shedding of Jewish blood (Rabin’s) and the deed was done. But not before the climatic event, the Jerusalem rally in which 10,000 kippah-wearing settlers bayed for Rabin’s blood as Netanyahu incited them with a Hitlerian speech delivered from a hotel balcony to the mob assembled below.

The noose and the coffin. They were meant for Rabin. But in the end they murdered democracy in Israel. Not only did they kill the Left with Rabin’s murder, they killed liberal humanism. Now Judeo-fascists rule Israel, allies of the MAGA putschists who prowled the halls of Congress today.

Trump's refusal to disavow QAnon is part of his pattern of encouraging hate for political gain | NBC News - Oct. 16, 2020 |

By normalizing, accepting and repeating a conspiracy theory's core, false tenet as a fact and reason to sympathize with them, the president of the United States legitimized domestic terrorism and hatred -- and it's not the first time. This QAnon exchange came shortly after Trump refused to denounce white supremacy when asked at the first presidential debate. And then, when pointedly asked to disavow the Proud Boys -- another right-wing extremist group aligned with white supremacists that promotes "Western chauvinism" -- Trump instead issued a call to arms by encouraging the Proud Boys to "stand back and stand by."

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund has pledged to resign

U.S. Capitol Police rejected offers of federal help to stop pro-Trump rioters | CBC / AP |

Three days before supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump rioted at the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon asked the Capitol Police if it needed National Guard manpower. And as the mob descended on the building Wednesday, Justice Department leaders reached out to offer up FBI agents. The police turned them down both times, according to a defence official and two people familiar with the matter.

Despite plenty of warnings of a possible insurrection and ample resources and time to prepare, the Capitol Police planned only for a free speech demonstration.

What happened in Washington can happen in Israel too | Ynet News |

The violent mob and its attack on the United States Congress  was the direct result of a union between a populist president suffering from a sever personality disorder and tens of thousands of angry followers who like him believe their country was stolen from them.

But what made this union so explosive was the use of social media, spreading incitement, fake news and conspiracy theories at the speed of light.

These platforms allowed the inciter-in-chief to mobilize the mob, calling them to descend on Washington, to then rile them up and point them, with impeccable timing towards the Capitol so they would stop the certification of the votes for President-elect Joe Biden.

This digital monster, which does not differentiate good from evil and truth from lies, has risen up against its creators.

Other than outgoing President Donald Trump and the violent thugs who rioted in his name, the blame must be directed at the leaders of the Republican Party.

They could read the writing on the wall that showed Trump was losing his grip on reality. They knew how dangerous he was, but did nothing to stop him.

Hawaii Proud Boy leader Nick Ochs arrested after Capitol siege | SF Gate |

Nick Ochs, the leader of the Proud Boys Hawaii chapter, was arrested by federal authorities Friday in connection with Trump supporters' deadly siege of the U.S. Capitol to halt Congress from certifying President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College victory.

Ochs, a failed Hawaii state legislature candidate, snapped a photo of himself inside the building smoking a cigarette. "Hello from the Capital lol," Ochs wrote in his post. He was also widely featured in photographs of the unruly mob storming the building.

The FBI told KHON-TV in Honolulu that Ochs was arrested at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu by agents on Thursday.

...
(His Attorney) Breiner asserted Ochs does not support the Capitol riot. "I don't approve of what happened. I want to be clear about that," he said. Breiner blames President Donald Trump for fueling his supporters to act inappropriately. "Trump created this environment and people like my client, Mr. Ochs, is paying the price."

The Revolt of the Public and the Crisis of Authority

A decade of revolt

In 2014, a book called The Revolt of the Public was published without much fanfare. The author was Martin Gurri, a former CIA analyst who spent most of his career studying politics and the global information landscape. The book has since become a favorite of Silicon Valley types as well as people interested in technology and politics (an updated edition was republished last year).

From our perch at the end of the decade, Gurri's book reads like prophecy. He argued that the digital revolution would transform the information space and empower the public to participate more and more in politics. That empowerment would create an impulse to revolt against the dominant institutions of society -- government, media, the academy, etc. -- and the elites who run them.

He concluded that that would leave us in a state of perpetual rebellion in which an unhappy public would continually scream for the destruction of the established order without any sense of what comes next. The danger is political nihilism, where everyone knows what they're against and no one knows what they're for.

Trump and Brexit proved this book prophetic -- what calamity will bevall us next?

State Department's "dissent channel," diplomats sent letter to Pompeo

US State Department - These Are Epochal Times 😊 Jan. 5, 2021

SECRETARY POMPEO:  Goodness.  That's a complicated question.  You go back all the way to Tiananmen Square.  We've known the nature of this regime.  And frankly freedom loving people across the world have known the nature of authoritarian regimes throughout history and yet we ignored it.  We ignored it in part because we had a foreign policy establishment that believed deeply that if we traded enough stuff with them, if we engaged with them, that the - some of the CCP would engage at least externally in the world on a fair and reciprocal basis.  And that was - that was patently false all the way through.

And yet the resistance from lots of quarters was enormous for a host of reasons, some of the economic; some of them just - truly people who thought they could get to a better place.  It's clear not true.  President Trump recognized that when he began his campaign and then when he took office.  We've now changed fundamentally how I think the West looks at China, not just the United States.  Even when you look at Europe, Australia, and South East Asia, they know too.  They know that the CCP is up to no good.

... I think they saw the nature of the regime up close all across the world.  And I've seen it.  I've seen it in polling data, but more importantly as I have traveled the world and spoken with people.  I think they understand the nature of this regime in ways that they didn't three, four, or five years ago.  I think we are in part responsible for that.  But no one's going back.  No human being who can see - whether they're in Saudi Arabia or Brazil or Philppines, no one's going to go ever acknowledge again that the Grand Old Party isn't up to no good.  They see it.  They see it plainly ...

😄 hmmm ... wonder what nation Pompeo is talking about!

You have been warned and didn't heed the bitter lessons of history ... 100 years redux.

"There is this delusional confidence in this idea that America is better than anywhere else, that America is an exceptional country, that the rules and the institutions and the Constitution and the checks and balances in America are unlike anywhere else in the world. And even on the day when we saw all of those things falling apart, even on this day, Joe Biden gets up there and says they're better than this -- no, you are not."

Risks under Democratic leadership ... different but more of the same. Revolutions in Ukraine, Georgia, Libya, Syria and on the bipartisan agenda Iran, and not the Saudi Monarchy or Emirates. Drone strikes under Obama from Yemen to the AfPak region ... collateral damage ... losing minds and souls.

What to do with 75 million delusional citizens watching Fox News...
According to statistics Fox News had this year 5.32 million viewers, down 30% from the 6.9 million in 2019.

That's under 10% of the delusional citizens. The rest have to get their delusions from elsewhere.

I personally know one trumpista, who a couple of days ago was certain that with Biden a reign of "thought police" will begin. Apparently Twitter, Facebook et al are proving her right. At least in her mind.

Only thing that would even partly resolve the internal conflict in USA would be if the government provided actual material benefits to the people quickly. Things like public healthcare, free education, living wages, affordable housing, working infrastructure, police that  makes you feel secure and civil service that helps you. Unfortunately there's a bipartisan decision to not do any of those.

Prediction.

Article 25 will not be initiated. The House will vote to impeach, it will pass, just like last time. The bill will be sent to the Senate, which will not take it up. The new Senate will take it up, the conviction vote will fail to get a 2/3 majority. The subsequent item, which declares that Trump is no longer allowed to hold office, will pass with a 51-49 majority.
