Rightwing Protest Rotterdam Turns Violent

by Oui Fri Nov 19th, 2021 at 09:58:02 PM EST

Police have fired warning shots which is very, very unusual in The Netherlands. When dialogue in Parliament by rightwing extremists emulating Trump rhetoric - see clown Thierry Baudet.

Rail station has been shut down ...

Police statement ...

A demonstration on the Coolsingel resulted in riots. Fires have been set in various places, fireworks are set off and the police have fired several (warning) shots. The police are present in large numbers and are trying to restore order. The ME has been deployed.

The signs have been seen for many months. PM Mark Rutte and his caretaker cabinet have sat on their hands and showed indecisive leadership. The zig zag policy has caused uncertainty and less trust in government. The lust for violence has been unleashed ...

Two wounded after 'warning shots' from Dutch police | Sky News |

In a television talk show last night,

”If code black is reached in hospitals in the Netherlands, healthcare personnel will have to be protected by the police or the army.”

Diederik Gommers, chairman of the Dutch Association for Intensive Care and OMT member [Dutch SAGE], expressed this expectation on Friday in the tv-program Op1.

The rightwing political parties have succeeded to create a climate of violence. Many cities have been on edge with angry protests due to forever changing mitigation policy in The Hague. Decisions are too late and forever changing in easing or more strict. The basics of face masks and distancing have been dropped. Mark Rutte has more often expressed that face masks 😷 aren’t necessary.

Rotterdam police open fire as Covid protest turns into 'orgy of violence'

The Dutch justice minister, Ferd Grapperhaus, condemned the events. "The riots and extreme violence against police officers, riot police and firefighters last night in Rotterdam are disgusting to see," he said in a statement.

"Protesting is a great right in our society, but what we saw last night is simply criminal behaviour. It has nothing to do with demonstrating."

Living by example ... destruction of the fiber that holds society together ... decades of failure ... especially after the 9/11 attacks and the call to unite [??] as a Judeo-Christian society. Speaking of isolating a large minority and creating division by Geert Wilders, Thierry Baudet and the PR slime ball Mark who bases his decisions on political gain and fails in leadership to hold the nation together. All talk and no balls. The caretaker cabinet -- over 250 days 😡 -- has set records in minister resignations and numerous gross failures and deception. The Rutte administration has lost the trust of the people ... for too many citizens it took too many years to realize Rutte & co is the problem, failing in setting a long term policy. Governing from one crisis to the next.

The Dutch are failing once again in today's society ... hatred and fascist behavior degrades the bond in a diverse society.

Kristallnacht, November 9-10, 1938. Blind hatred and anti-Semitism. Hundreds of Jews were mistreated or murdered. The 102,000 names of Dutch Holocaust victims confront us with the horrific Nazi crimes. We must continue to commemorate this nightmare. And never look away again.

It started with riots and was not limited to a single nation. Very few countries were willing to accept refugees fleeing the atrocities of oppression and racism.

Teens riot against curfew in Dutch village; burn down COVID-19 testing site

In the Netherlands, after a campaign focused on opposing anti-Covid-19 measures and fed by conspiratorial rhetoric, the populist eurosceptic Forum for Democracy -- Thierry Baudet -- party quadrupled its number of parliamentary seats in legislative elections.

In Urk, a small fishing town nestled within the ultra-Protestant "Bible Belt", the Forum made its biggest progress in coming third.

Like other European populist parties, it does not overtly flirt with conspiracy theories but has a sufficiently ambiguous and attractive discourse for an electorate often tired of politics.

Netherlands Covid riots: Fireworks and chaos on the streets for a second night | BBC News |

Fresh rioting broke out on Saturday night over the Dutch government's latest coronavirus measures.

Hooded rioters set fire to bicycles on the streets of The Hague, as riot police used horses, dogs and batons to chase the crowds away. Officials have announced an emergency order in the city, and at least seven people were arrested.

Police said someone threw a rock through the window of a passing ambulance carrying a patient. Officers in the city tweeted that five police were injured, with one taken away by ambulance with a knee injury.

Elsewhere in the country, two top-flight football matches were briefly halted after supporters broke into the grounds and ran onto the pitch. Fans are currently banned from stadiums because of new coronavirus rules.

Covid: Fresh protests in Europe against new restrictions | CBC |

Thousands of demonstrators also took to the streets in Austria, Croatia and Italy as anger mounted over new curbs.

Many governments across the continent are bringing in new restrictions in a bid to tackle rising infections. A number of countries have recently reported record-high daily case numbers.

Tens of thousands of people protested in Austria's capital Vienna after the government announced a new national lockdown and plans to make jabs compulsory in February 2022. It is the first European country to make vaccination a legal requirement.

Brandishing national flags and banners reading "Freedom", protesters shouted "Resistance!" and booed the police.

In Croatia, thousands marched in the capital Zagreb to show their anger at mandatory vaccinations for public sector workers, while in Italy, a few thousand protesters gathered at the ancient Circus Maximus chariot-racing ground in Rome to oppose "Green Pass" certificates required at workplaces, venues and on public transport.

French authorities meanwhile are sending dozens more police officers to quell unrest on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, a French overseas department.

Overnight riots saw looters ransack dozens of shops and set businesses alight after protests against France's own Covid pass turned violent.

"Thousands" sure sounds more impressive that "3-4 hundred". Corriere

Demonstrations undermined with harsh police policy and prosecution ...

"The police pincer strategy works: protest numbers collapse"

In total, the No passes never exceed a thousand. A very different number from the one expected by the "call to arms" which started for days via chat. After Saturday's half flop, yesterday's one can now be considered an evident downsizing of the movement at the 18th demonstration and which had blocked the city (and some trade routes) without rules and with never less than 5-6 thousand people 16 times. Sometimes well over ten thousand.

Anti-vaxxers were joined by Protestants, fundamental religion of the Bible, and mixed with football hooligans and rightwingers, supporters of Thierry Baudet and Geert Wilders. A broad front of protesters that are getting stronger each week as the policy set forth by caretaker cabinet and leadership weakens. Distrust grows and chance of difficult choices who will get lifesaving treatment in hospitals and a ICU. The black code to leave people to die at home in a matter of days. Record breaking infections as the Delta variant are offered an increased opportunity to replicate in the masses in shopping areas, events and drinking festivals.

Protests continued in the Netherlands for the third day in a row Sunday, with police issuing an emergency order in the eastern city of Enschede, near the German border.

Protesters set off fireworks and vandalized properties in cities -- Groningen and Leeuwarden in the north, Enschede in the east, and Tilburg in the south -- on Sunday evening. 130 people have been arrested since the protests began, police said.

A football match in Leeuwarden was briefly disrupted after supporters, who were barred from the games because of COVID restrictions, threw fireworks into the ground, Dutch media reported.

In Rotterdam, the second-largest Dutch city, police arrested 26 people on Sunday after fans grew rowdy at a game -- people attacked police, threw bins, and lit fireworks.

But protests were much less violent than the ones that erupted in Rotterdam on Friday evening and The Hague on Saturday

A tiny minority of Dutch population can raise the "terror" level in society and disturb normalcy in daily activity of so many others. The best argument used by the anti-vaxxers and opposition to 2G policy is the risk of "dividing" society 😂

Riding the wave of populism will lead to fascism as the masses become violent and turn to vigilantism ...

.... trying to bring some conceptual clarity and to offer working definitions of both the mainstream right and the far right in Western Europe. It then outlines our argument that mainstream right parties in Western Europe experience a tension between, on the one hand, adapting to segments of the electorate that express the liberal and progressive values of the so-called 'silent revolution' and, on the other hand, representing voters who sympathize with the arguably authoritarian and nativist ideas associated with the so-called 'silent counter-revolution'.

Virologist Marc Van Ranst: 'This is the most difficult period' | NRC News |

Marc Van Ranst The best-known virologist in Belgium is concerned about the polarization caused by the corona pandemic. "Rocket launchers, that was not planned."

He is the best known and most outspoken virologist in Belgium. Professor in Leuven, member of the expert group that advises the Belgian government, and daily in the media to explain the corona measures. And to firmly fight against disinformation. Marc Van Ranst (56) is acclaimed but also threatened, and this spring even went into hiding with his family for over a month because he was threatened with death by the extreme right-wing Belgian soldier Jürgen Conings. And this week was the referred lawsuit that corona skeptic and Virus Truth foreman Willem Engel brought against him for defamation, including because he called him "virus denier" and "conman".

Let's understand each other well: if people keep looking for loopholes and excuses, or cheat by forging or passing on corona passes, or by not checking the corona pass, or by ignoring too high CO2 levels, then only 1 remains. option: lock down.

From the start of the pandemic until now, 23,343,172 corona tests have been performed in Belgium. On average exactly 2.00 tests per Belgian. In comparison ...

Belgium's most-vaccinated province also has highest number of Covid cases

West Flanders has the highest vaccination rates in Belgium, according to data from Sciensano, but the province is struggling with some of the highest numbers of Covid-19 cases since the pandemic first began.

Koksijde, Middelkerke and De Haan are at the top of the list of the most vaccinated municipalities, with 88, 87 and 86 percent of their population fully vaccinated, reports RTBF.

Vaccination rates remain uneven across Belgium, with 80 percent of people in Flanders fully vaccinated but 69 percent in Wallonia and just 56 percent in Brussels. In the German-speaking region of Ostbelgien, 64 percent of people are fully vaccinated.
