Colonial Times Are Here Again

A sovereign nation doing what's best for the new leader: capital. Abusing labor rights, women's rights, human rights ... running a police state, privacy intrusion and avoiding responsibility. Happy exit!

“Today we’re seizing the opportunities of being an independent trading nation to back new and emerging British industries, create more jobs and make the U.K. the best possible place to start and grow a business,” said U.K. Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng.

He called the bill “a clear departure from the EU state aid regime” and noted the U.K. will not bail out unsustainable companies through the system.

The new regime is billed as more “nimble” and “free from excessive red tape.”

Judgement being delivered in case against the Northern Ireland protocol | The Irish Times |

Mr Justice Adrian Colton has refused one of the main grounds of the judicial review case against the Northern Ireland protocol.

The judge, delivering judgment at Belfast High Court, agreed with the applicants that the Brexit Withdrawal Act conflicted with the 1800 Acts of Union, but he ruled that the latter legislation overrode the provisions of the 200-year old law.

Judge Colton is continuing to deliver his judgment on other grounds of challenge against the protocol.

Mr Justice Colton has also refused another of the main grounds of the judicial review case against the Northern Ireland protocol -- namely the contention that the post-Brexit trade arrangements breach key provisions of the 1998 Northern Ireland Act.

The judge ruled the protocol did not breach articles 1 and 42 of the 1998 legislation that enshrines the terms of the Belfast Agreement. The judgment is continuing.

High Court ruling on NI Protocol will be appealed if legal bid fails, says Baroness Hoey
