Reverse 'Incursion' of Coup d'Etat Feb. 2014

by Oui Fri Jan 21st, 2022 at 12:20:33 PM EST

Article in The Guardian today seems as a likely option of Putin's intent. Getting rid of the fascist elements now dominating the pro-EU Kyiv government. As has been clear, Ukraine is run by corrupt oligarchs with some pro-EU and some pro-Russia. The intelligence unit SBU has the lead in corrupt matters, this is not what democracy should look look like. The election of pro-Russian Yanukovych was as democratic compared to earlier elections. After the Colour Revolution of the Maidan, the nation has been divided as never before with the unrest in Donbas and Odessa.

Most agreements for diplomacy such as the Minsk and Normandy format have not been complied with. NATO has thrown out former agreements with Russia and has thrown out the last representatives at the HQ in Brussels.

Russia says it has notified its partners under the 1992 Open Skies arms control treaty that it will leave the group in December, following the departure from the accord by the United States late last year.

"Russia has notified all the member states about its decision to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty six months after sending a notice. Therefore, this will occur on December 18, 2021," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on June 18.

Positions have only hardened since 2004. The new Cold War was a choice of Western powers, not Russia. With the new mission of NATO across the globe after 9/11, de defense goal has changed dramatically. With the Article 5 mission in Afghanistan 🇦🇫 that all changed for the worse. After the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq in March 2003 came the support and initiative by the UK, France and Italy for military force for a Coup d'Etat in Tripoli to overthrow the Gaddafi regime. A colour revolution ending in military conflict and chaos ten years later. Immediately, the US, Arab States and Turkey continued the same blue print to overthrow Assad. The Syria campaign was an joint US-Israel fantasy of the Neocons from before 9/11. In Syria NATO too was involved as both the UK and France had historic ties. This quagmire and drama has not ended and has long lasting effect on the Syrian population, the neighboring countries and has accelerated xenophobia and Islamophobia in most European nations.

The clash of civilizations was fictional and has become a plan effected by rightwing parties and government as a route map to destroy society as we knew it. The weapons industry has taken priority of our lives in a fight fir survival if the climate crisis. Today all foreign policy has mutated in its previous mission of some solidarity and recognition of human rights. Third world country aid has been cut back and replaced by the 2.5 fee to NATO for our "protection". What a scam this is.

The ill-conceived R2P policy by the United Nations after the Yugoslavia split-up has been a recipe for disaster. The evil powers in the world has taken advantage of it and given nothing in return. Yemen is a human disaster and as is the African continent, still getting robbed of its minerals, precious metals by men and corporations getting away with murder. The displacement of peoples will only increase, so Fort Europe raise your bridges and fortify your walls to keep the unfortunates out.

Looking at history of past centuries, the Russian Federation has no other option but to react. Today is a last chance to give diplomacy a chance. Russia will not accept a no for an answer. Good luck and wisdom to Blinken and Lavrov in Geneva. I hold no hope as the war rhetoric was hardened positions on both sides. For me it is a Cuban missile crisis executed in reverse on the European continent. The highest risk as Europe is now represented by a foreign power the US, the battlefield and blood will flow in Europe starting in the Ukraine. Why did Zelensky leave Ukraine for a 2-day visit to Poland?

US accuses Russia of conspiring to take over Ukraine government | The Guardian |

The US has alleged that Russian intelligence is recruiting current and former Ukrainian government officials to take over the government in Kyiv and cooperate with a Russian occupying force.

The US Treasury on Thursday imposed sanctions on two Ukrainian members of parliament and two former officials it said were involved in the alleged conspiracy, which involved discrediting the current government of the president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

"Russia has directed its intelligence services to recruit current and former Ukrainian government officials to prepare to take over the government of Ukraine and to control Ukraine's critical infrastructure with an occupying Russian force," the Treasury statement accompanying the sanctions said.

A Russian view and source ... ⚠️

Moscow's Compelling Strategy | FPRI Eurasia - Jan. 18, 2022 |

How ambitious are Russia's foreign policy objectives, and how much force does Moscow believe it must employ to achieve them? Moscow has submitted various ultimatums, but the most critical and pressing issue is that the Kremlin now regards Ukraine as a permanently hostile country continuing to increase its defense capabilities. Russian hopes for improved relations with President Volodymyr Zelensky were dashed in 2021, and Moscow is now focused on reducing the long-term security risk posed by Ukraine, including halting its expanding defense cooperation with NATO. However, this is one of the most unrealistic and difficult demands for NATO to satisfy, particularly because Ukraine is developing long-range missiles domestically. This diplomatic impasse suggests a significant risk of a Russian military escalation in Ukraine with few obvious offramps.

....
In December 2019, a summit in the Normandy format (Germany, Russia, Ukraine, France) was held in Paris - the first for Mr. Zelensky. And so far the last one. The leaders of the four approved a list of steps to be taken to implement the Minsk agreements.

But for some reason Kulebyak sends his guest to Kherson. What is the reason?

Secretary Antony J. Blinken and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at a Joint Press Availability

While developing relations with the West, FM Kuleba ignored its powerful neighbour to the East ...

The MFA's main achievements, according to Kuleba, include the launch of the Crimean Platform, the development of a strategic partnership with Washington, London and Ankara, the emergence of the Associated Trio, the progress of the Lublin Triangle and Quadriga (bilateral dialogue with Erdogan, Turkey), Ukrainian leadership in the Danube region, NATO Enhanced Opportunities Partner status, as well as creation of the Foreign Policy Strategy of Ukraine.

Adopted back in the summer, the Strategy became the issue Kuleba paid the most attention to as a key achievement of Ukrainian diplomacy.

Quite likely when the Geneva talks fail miserably today, the Russian Federation united with Belarus will create a buffer zone along the long Ukrainian border as Zelensky & Co has become overtly hostile to its neighbour and the Russian speaking citizens of Ukraine.

As new PM of Rutte IV, announced a visit to Ukraine with new fresh FM Hoekstra, the former Financev Minister and leader of the rightwing Christian Democrats (CDA).

Apparently there was a misunderstanding as President Zelensky went on a brief 2-day holiday to Poland, a friendly state for Ukraine - see unison during WWII.

Nevertheless Rutte thought it appropriate to announce the willingness to provide defensive weapons to Ukraine, if asked by NATO. There seems to be some NATO coordination to fulfill weapons and arms requirements for a non-member in a state of war with its neighbour.

A stark warning to FM Hoekstra as PM Rutte sometimes loses sight of his colleagues and they end up in a backroom of Putin's Russian dasha. 😂

"We live in a country where the truth matters. [Rutte regulair collector of 5 Pinocchio's] That's why I see no other option than to resign," said Zijlstra, who had held the job for less than four months.

Zijlstra admitted that he had lied in 2016 when he said he had attended a meeting a decade earlier at which Putin reportedly spoke of plans for regional expansion.

He said he did not in fact attend the meeting but had heard second hand about the president's remarks - comments that led opposition parties to demand his resignation and that the Russian Embassy dismissed as "fake news".

The Russian Embassy said in a statement that Zijlstra's allegations "do not hold up against any criticism and are only intended to spread false perceptions of Russia's intentions."

The charges were filed by the National Police of Ukraine. If convicted, Groszhans could be sentenced to life in prison, though Ustimenko said a sentence between 12 and 15 years was more likely.

....
Calling himself "a deceived American investor," Groszhans wrote bluntly: "Roman Nikolaevich Leshchenko deceived me. And I have been suing him for several years."

The American claimed that judges delayed his lawsuits, explaining that he "should understand who you are suing."
Leshchenko's lawyer, Tetyana Kozachenko, told CBS News that the funds lent to him by Groszhans were "returned in full," and that the dispute was related to "business transactions."

Groszhans' attorney, however, said his client wanted more than the return of $250,000 in cash that was taken -- he was also seeking to cover the costs of "soy beans, corn, use of machinery" and legal fees totaling around $1 million.

SECDEF Orders U.S. Carrier USS Harry S. Truman to Stay in Mediterranean to Reassure Allies | USNI - Dec. 28, 2021 |

A U.S. carrier strike group is lingering in the Mediterranean Sea rather than journeying to the Middle East on orders from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, USNI News learned on Tuesday.

USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), Carrier Air Wing 1 and its escorts are now operating in the Ionian Sea between Greece and Italy rather than resume a planned transit through the Suez Canal to U.S. Central Command, a defense official confirmed to USNI News. USNI News first reported the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group in the Ionian Sea Monday, according to the USNI News Fleet Tracker. [Location near Crete]

The schedule change, blessed by Austin, is to reassure European allies of U.S commitment to regional security, one official said without mentioning the ongoing Russian military buildup on the eastern border of Ukraine.

Capt. Bill Speaks, spokesperson for European Command, confirmed that the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group is operating in the Sixth Fleet's area of command. He could not comment on future operations as "these deployments are dynamic in nature and due to our operational security policy."

The ongoing border tensions between Moscow and Kyiv have been building over the past two months, after Russia began moving troops near Ukraine. Satellite images published by the BBC show buildup of Russian troops from as early as Nov. 9 in Russian cities around Ukraine, including in Crimea, which Russia invaded in 2014.

HMS Defender: AIS spoofing is opening up a new front in the war on reality

An incident involving a British warship off the coast of Russian-occupied Crimea on June 24 may have begun online - with a virtual voyage that never really happened.

NATO representatives did not respond to requests for comment on the fake AIS. The tracks were confirmed as false by Dutch naval warfare news site Marineschepen.nl.

The AIS positions were shared with AIS aggregator MarineTraffic.com by a receiver station in Chornomorsk, which is close to Odessa. Other AIS aggregators also reported the false positions. HMS Defender was shown under the credentials that she is currently using, IMO 4907878. HNLMS Evertsen was reported as  Netherlands Warship MMSI 244942000. Both the Defender and Evertsen are part of CSG21, the carrier strike group centred around HMS Queen Elizabeth.

Russia preparing to attack Ukraine by late January: Ukraine defense intelligence agency chief | Military Times - Nov. 28, 2021 |

Russia has more than 92,000 troops amassed around Ukraine's borders and is preparing for an attack by the end of January or beginning of February, the head of Ukraine's defense intelligence agency told Military Times.

Such an attack would likely involve airstrikes, artillery and armor attacks followed by airborne assaults in the east, amphibious assaults in Odessa and Mariupul and a smaller incursion through neighboring Belarus, Ukraine Brig. Gen. Kyrylo Budanov told Military Times Saturday morning in an exclusive interview.

Russia's large-scale Zapad 21 military exercise earlier this year proved, for instance, that they can drop upwards of 3,500 airborne and special operations troops at once, he said.

Did you notice in that hilarious table right next to the "battle plan" the Russian BTG strength has dropped 25% in preparation for an attack...

Not going into how many troops Russia would have in that area* even without any crisis and NATO countries dumping their expiring ammunition to Ukraine, one just have to wonder what all these hyperventilating morons experts will do, when "the attack" never materializes.

I mean, unlike Brig. Gen. Budalov, we could assume Mr. Putin would not want something like a war to spoil his visit in Winter Olympics in February.

* hint: the two military districts bordering Ukraine, Western and Southern, have about 400000 men between them, so anything between 150000-200000 would be a decent guess.

... that the Russian president only demands respect and probably deserves it.

Crimea is returned to the Motherland ... Russia and Putin have been attacked in Chechnya by Jihadists rooted in Wahhabism (re: Afghanistan). Same intervention of Jihadists via Iraq and Libya in Syria of Assad. In 2008 Saakashvili miscalculated the support by America and George Bush in an election year and attacked Russian peacekeepers in South Ossetia.

The positioning of NATO weapons in the Ukraine is a direct security risk for Russia --- creeping expansion.  The US is unreliable to deal with, most treaties with Russia have been abandoned. Diplomacy has been absent for years. Russia has received harsh sanctions ... there are not enough benefits to deal with Europe. Russia can choose for Central Asia (Caspian Bassin) and fossil fuel delivery to China. Europe will be cut off as only Germany would be a large customer through Nord Stream 1 and 2. Russia is set to secure its frontier with a military buffer zone on the soil of the Ukraine. Likely ethnic cleansing and the zone would be a new "Iron Curtain" of mines. This is Russia's main border at risk ... needs urgent attention. No turning back as NATO and the Bucharest Nine will not meet the security demands of Putin.

Will Green Minister of Defense Baerbock sack the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy on the eve of hostilities.

The Federal Ministry of Defense distances itself from Schönbach's statements

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated in a letter that the German ambassador had been summoned, saying it was about the "unacceptability of the statements made by the Commander-in-Chief of the German Navy, Kay-Achim Schönbach." Among other things, it is about his statement "that Crimea will never return to Ukraine and that our state will not meet the membership criteria for NATO".

This leak by Schönbach is an indication of high risk NATO is willing to engage Russia in a war. Numerous examples in history, reminds me of Barack Obama leaking intelligence Israel was in final planning stages to attack Iran and use airfields in Azerbaijan.

But Ukraine is not a member, nor will it ever be, so what would be NATO's excuse to go to war?

Couldn't Schönbach's outcome rather be sign that the military wants the politicians to quit grandstanding and deal with the reality so that the military doesn't have to?

It's a very small clique that is actually willing to fight Russia over Ukraine (or for Baltic countries, for that matter), and most of the armed forces and civilians in the West or Ukraine are not in it.

A Softer Iron Curtain Falls in Ukraine | Forbes - Feb. 23, 2016 |

Throughout the Cold War, the symbolic center of the standoff between the Soviets and the West was Germany, split in two -- much as the whole of Europe was -- by the infamous Iron Curtain. But now, in Ukraine, a new center has emerged in the rivalry between East and West, dividing the country in ways that could prove just as enduring as the decadeslong partition of Germany.

This week marks the second anniversary of the Euromaidan uprising that drove former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich from power, shaking Ukraine to its foundations and driving Russia-West relations to their lowest point since the end of the Cold War. Much has changed in the two years since: A pro-West government formed in Kiev, Russia annexed Crimea, and a rebellion in eastern Ukraine developed into a full-fledged war. Meanwhile, the United States and the European Union have levied sanctions against Russia. Moscow has responded with countersanctions against the West. Economic activity between Ukraine and Russia has ground to a halt.

Russia's Possible Invasion of Ukraine | CSIS |

If peace talks fail, the Russian military has several options to advance into Ukraine through northern, central, and southern invasion routes. But a Russian attempt to seize and hold territory will not necessarily be easy and will likely be impacted by challenges from weather, urban combat, command and control, logistics, and the morale of Russian troops and the Ukrainian population. The United States and its European allies and partners should be prepared for an invasion by taking immediate economic, diplomatic, military, intelligence, and humanitarian steps to aid Ukraine and its population and shore up defenses along the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) eastern flank.

The proper New Cold War way to "send a message" would be, me thinks, to allow Russian Air-Space Forces fully support Syrian Arab Army operations to return At Tanf area and Mayadin-Hasaka road with the adjacent oil fields under the control of Syrian government.

That would mean direct contact with US forces, but in a place and way US could really not protest strongly.

Retired Colonel James Steele, whose military decorations include the Silver Star, the Defence Distinguished Service Medal, four Legions of Merit, three Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart, is not at home. Nor is he at his office headquarters in Geneva, where he is listed as the chief executive officer of Buchanan Renewables, an energy company. Similar efforts to track him down at his company's office in Monrovia are futile. Messages are left. He doesn't call back.

For over a year the Guardian has been trying to contact Steele, 68, to ask him about his role during the Iraq war as US defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld's personal envoy to Iraq's Special Police Commandos: a fearsome paramilitary force that ran a secret network of detention centres across the country - where those suspected of rebelling against the US-led invasion were tortured for information.

James Steele: America's mystery man in Iraq | BBC Documentary |

The Pentagon's "Salvador Option for Iraq" initiated in 2004 was carried out under the helm of the US Ambassador to Iraq John Negroponte (2004-2005) together with Robert Stephen Ford, who was appointed US Ambassador to Syria in January 2011, less than two months before the beginning of the armed insurgency directed against the government of Bashar Al Assad. Negroponte has an infamous record of involvement in torture, kidnapping, rape, extra-judicial killing and other police state crimes against democratic movements in Central America.

For the sake of democracy here and in Europe ...

Joni Ernst to Vlad: "My message to you don't do it."

To my fellow Democrats and the former President ...

By-pass the US Constitution, throw out votes and stop the certification in US Congress.

I approve of this message ...

Always present for a bit of warmongering ... Iraq, Libya, Syria, and today Ukraine. Usually ends in chaos and human suffering ... in the limelight on MSM.

Bernard-Henri Lévy  @BHL
Ecrivain, philosophe. Official account created by L. Lazar.

Could all the #Putin's military maneuvers be a smoke screen for this? #Zelensky , #Poroshenko and all #Ukrainian patriots should pay great attention. It is the great heritage  of the Maidan that is at stake here.

French philosophers, a reading ...

Cafe-philo in English, with a French flavour

Michel Onfray: «Eric Zemmour n'est pas gaulliste, il est le FN des années 1970»

Bernard-Henri Lévy started his attacks against Michel Onfray in the media way before he read even one single sentence of the book. But Onfray counterattacked by brushing aside baseless attacks

'Freedom ceased to exist in France a long time ago,' says French left-wing philosopher Michel Onfray

"Bernard-Henri Lévy" and Love for Israel

Love for Israel and Hate for Russia in ideology of French writer Bernard-Henri Lévy in 2015.

He must be confounded by friendship between Russia and Israel plus the divided opinion of Israel with Ukraine.

Yad Vashem Apologizes for Historical Error at World Holocaust Forum | Haaretz  - Feb. 3, 2020 |

The maps presented in the video erred in their depiction of the borders of Poland and its neighbors, and contained no reference to Ukraine, currently in the midst of an ongoing conflict with Putin's Russia. It confused concentration camps with death camps, and contained additional historical information that was either only partial or mistaken.

For political gain and national interest, Netanyahu hosted a Who-Is-Who in global authoritarian regimes from Azerbaijan, Arab states, Rwanda, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Philippines, Brazil and of course Trump & Co.

Guardian
The unusual Foreign Office revelation on Saturday night that British intelligence had unmasked a plot to install a Russian puppet government in Ukraine was issued alongside a lengthy release from Downing Street in effect claiming Boris Johnson was now at the helm of an anti-Russian alliance.
So Putin has nothing to worry about (apart from dying of laughter)

Is this the same plot Zelensky already threw some of his opponents in jail for, or this a new one? I'm a bit confused now whether Russia is supposed to invade or organize a coup - or both?

Considering that Zelensky was elected as a "peace candidate", because he promised to solve the issues with DPR, LNR and Russia diplomatically and quicly, I wonder why Russia would want to replace him...

What I wonder most is if there's anything left for Russia to do to pressure "West", since Foreign Office and MI6 seem to be already busy on the job.
