Groningen Gas Fields, Profit Before Citizens

by Oui Fri Oct 14th, 2022 at 07:34:13 PM EST

Slochteren was Europe's biggest natural gas deposit and in 30 years covered public spending for hundreds of billion guilders.

When the resulting earthquakes began and homes and businesses were destroyed or severely damage, the national government in The Hague had their doors closed and their eyes watching their wallets. Mo words for this but deep shame ... at the center once again: Conservatives of VVD and PM Mark Rutte.

Rutte has a large delegation of friendly PR specialists and not once he used his previous favorite escape of loss of memory. In 5 hours of tough questioning, Rutte found a new fiddle-faddle he used a dozen times: "I can't reconstruct the moment ...".

Translation:
Rutte has lost a memo, intended exclusively for him, about a conversation with Shell CEO Ben van Beurden about the level of gas extraction. They cannot find it at the Ministry of General Affairs. The committee of inquiry has the memo #pegas

So sad I could weep, and how far will we fall. At what moment is policy totally unacceptable? #pegas #Groningen #notmygovernment

These were seven intense weeks in The Hague, but it was special to be on top of this together with @tristanbraakman. #pegas #rtvnoord

The Dutch state has earned more than €360 bn from the exploitation of the Groningen gas field since extraction began in 1963, according to an analysis by the Financial Daily. Total revenues from the gas region amounted to €428 when adjusted for inflation, of which €363.7 bn went to the government coffers while €64.7 bn was split between Shell and ExxonMobil, the joint owners of NAM, the company set up in 1963 to distribute Dutch gas. The amount of money raised from Groningen's gas reserves has been a closely guarded secret, with official statistics only giving the total income from natural gas production - €452 when adjusted for inflation.

Theodor Kockelkoren of State Supervision of Mines: 'Safety should not be narrowed down to the safety of a building. Security is more than that. It is also health, well-being. From there also the trust that people should be able to have in the government' #pegas

Read and take a look, @JillesApplescha (Jilles van den Beukel)? Kockelkoren, you can learn a lot from that! Oh wait, Jilles can't take criticism. He has now also blocked me after my comment on his presence and downplayed the quakes, in @Nieuwsuur

Analysis of the interrogation of Mark Rutte: A Total Deception

Translation:
Children of Groningen cannot tell themselves during the public interrogations what the impact of the earthquakes is on their lives, but children's ombudsperson Margrite Kalverboer - who is the very last to be interrogated - does it full of fire for them #pegas

Liz Truss and love for Boris Johnson and Donald Trump  #gift #ASML #ChinaSanctions #RussiaGate

Translation:
PM Mark Rutte had a 'fantastic' meeting with new British Prime Minister Liz Truss in Prague. "I am really impressed," he said after the first summit with 44 leaders from almost all of Europe. In the margins of that meeting, they discussed, among other things, closer cooperation in the North Sea, about migration and about continuing their efforts to support Ukraine.

My visit to the White House came to an end with a special ceremony. On D-Day in 1944, the first navigation vessels landed on Utah Beach, Normandy under this very flag. Today this flag returned home, after its Dutch owners presented it to President Trump. #NLintheUSA
