My post @MofA

Re: Exile | June 29 2022 6:05 utc | 241

Turning the world from extortion through globalization into one exactly the reverse of Trumpism with MAGA, a raw exponent of American rightwing neoconservatism and white supremacy. The UK with Tory conservatism leads the disinformation of propaganda campaign and Russophobia. This is a very long process and has taken two decades.

The US on domestic issues, red and blue are polarized, but on foreign policy Democrats and Republicans are united, have an identical agenda. US Congress votes in unison only seen in authoritarian states or in dictatorships. Senate vote 98-2 or the House with a dozen dissenters. That explains there is no debate, exchanging views. Israel through their lobby and bribes -campaign donations- messed up the legislature and as result the Middle East.

Benjamin Netanyahu is a smart but very corrupt leader: he boasted of his ability to manipulate U.S. policy.

"I know what America is ... America is a thing you can move very easily, move it in the right direction. They won't get in the way."

Five Eyes with crucial expansion to Nine Eyes controls the narrative in support of militarism and NATO to become a center of power and influence. The revolving door between politicians, White House advisors and think tanks across the West has created a glob of undefined power base. Wars, especially after 9/11 the enduring war of terror has become a war on dissent. Big Tech from Silicon Valley has joined the fray and participated in the colour revolutions and the Arab uprising of 2011 leading to war in Libya and Syria, hundreds of thousands of deaths, displaced persons, refugees across Europe which fed xenophobia and Islamophobia. Politicians moved to extreme rightwing to survive elections and keep their seat in power.

Policy for short term gain as Washington, London and NATO ruled the European "leaders" and politicians. Indeed self-interest is the name of the game and only a revolution from grassroots and discontent could change policy. Hunger crisis, energy poverty, cost of living, inflation will play a major role coming winter across Europe. The EU-28 has been wrecked by poor performance of Brussels, alienation of member states and the partition of Old and New Europe. The EU is doomed as an entity and its economic motor has been taken apart by London with Brexit and the brief campaign by Joe Biden ... an historic Blitzkrieg. Europe was glad to lose Trump, the result with Biden is so much worse.

The masses are like a flock of sheep easily herded by a few well trained dogs doing the boundaries. It will be a rough ride with permanent military and economic confrontation between the West, Russia and China. Third world countries will be further exploited and are truly doomed by rising prices of food and energy, the basics for tens of millions to survive. None of the wealthiest 0.1% gives a damn. Let the Arctic and Antarctic melt down, the tribes are pre-occupied with infighting to be King if the Hill.

By demonizing social-democracy of moderation, false accusation of communism, America's self-centered pure capitalism will lead to the End of the West in Self-annihilation.

Benjamin Netanyahu and the politics of grievance |  Brookings |

A leader who portrays himself as one of the persecuted, the target of an incessant witch-hunt by the so-called deep state. A liberal media intent on revisiting an election gone badly. And a left-wing political machine supposedly out to get him. This leader, of course, is Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel.

....
Netanyahu's response has been one of defiance. On August 9, Likud party officials and supporters--the Bibi faithful--gathered at a rally in Tel Aviv to voice their support for the prime minister. There, he delivered a message of persecution, railing against the despised liberal media and the even-more despised left-wing. The two, he said, are one and the same. They had failed to beat him at the polls, and were now out to get him by other means, which that amorphous elite--the left-wing, the media--presumably control.

At the rally, Netanyahu seemed to channel Donald Trump. He even explicitly (mis)used the English phrase "fake news" to attack the supposedly biased mainstream media that's out to get him. While Netanyahu and Trump are profoundly different--Bibi's many faults aside, he is erudite, cautious, and experienced--the two men share an approach to confronting political adversity: divide and conquer, turn the spotlight on the "other," create an other when none is available, and always, always, feed the base.

Therein lies a long-term danger for both Israel and America. The governing institutions of each are strong, but their leaders have the power to shape or erode basic norms of democracy and codes of national unity; both Netanyahu and Trump have been careless at best in this regard. Faced with a real threat to his position, perhaps even to his liberty, Netanyahu is once again playing with fire.

Survival of the fittest has become survival of the fascists | Mondoweiss |

A week ago, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu told Likud officials that "occupation is nonsense". This is a continuation of a right-wing spinning of history that says that Israel is not an occupying power.  Then Netanyahu went further, to speak with clear fascist eliminationist undertones:

"Occupation is nonsense. Empires have conquered and replaced  entire populations and no one is talking about it".

The second assassination of Yitzhak Rabin | Al-Monitor - Nov. 2018 |

They say time heals anguish and loss. As is only natural, the passage of years has dulled the anguish and loss over the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin by a Jewish settler terrorist, Yigal Amir, in November 1995.

The  political heroes of Rabin's assassin, who incited against Rabin in the months that preceded his death, are no longer content with the erosion of memory.

The right-wing settlers and their supporters stubbornly reject any responsibility for the vitriolic wave of incitement that preceded the murder and caused the murderer, by his own admission, to shoot a prime minister in the back.

The murder fatally sabotaged the Oslo peace agreement that Rabin had signed two years earlier with the Palestinians and helped the right wing, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, to inherit the state through subsequent elections, held in 1996. Now, on the 23rd anniversary of Rabin's assassination, the very same people who led the campaign against those they dubbed "Oslo criminals" have also declared themselves its victims, generously aided by the silent majority.

According to Hutchinson, Ornato recounted Trump screaming, "I'm the F'ing President. Take me up to the Capitol now."

Trump then "reached up toward the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel," Hutchinson remembered learning. She added that, according to Ornato, Trump used his other hand "lunge" at Engel.

The Domestication of Arabs Failed | Haaretz |

In recent years, we have been witness to the blossoming of a grandiose project - the domestication of the Arab citizens of Israel - to get them to toe the line of establishment policy in several fields. Arab citizens interfered with the project of redeeming the land from their own hands and from the hands of their brethren in the occupied territories, and not only because of their national identity but also because the cry they raised was heard around the world, grating on the ears of racists. The goal of the project was to create the kind of Arab who would express gratitude for being allowed to remain in the land of the forefathers - of the Jews of course - at all.

Two approaches were taken by the Israeli establishment in its undertaking. The first was summarized in 1956 in Moshe Dayan's eulogy for Roi Rotberg, a kibbutz security officer killed near the Gaza Strip. From his remarks, Dayan apparently understood what the Arabs were feeling, seeing their land stolen and not reconciling themselves to the bitter fate forced upon them.

In practice, however, that portion of his remarks was directed at Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, who was seeking a bridge between the two peoples. Dayan ended by saying that there was no alternative to continued all-out war against the Arabs. [FALSE - Oui]

Not all versions includes this passage ...

Let us not cast the blame on the murderers today. Why should we declare their burning hatred for us? For eight years they have been sitting in the refugee camps in Gaza, and before their eyes we have been transforming the lands and the villages, where they and their fathers dwelt, into our estate.

Moshe Sharett is one of the founding fathers of Israel | Jewish Virtual Library |

Moshe Sharett was born on October 15, 1894, in Kherson (Ukraine). He moved to Palestine, then part of the Ottoman Empire, with his family in 1908, making their first home in the Arab village of Ein Sinia; the experience left him with a command of Arabic and Arab customs.

Sharett and his family moved in 1910 to Jaffa, where they became one of the founding families of "Ahuzat Bayit," the earliest nucleus of the city of Tel Aviv. Moshe was a member of the first graduating class of the first Hebrew high school in the country, the Herzliya Gymnasium.

Sharett began studying law in Istanbul, but his studies were interrupted by service in the Turkish Army in World War I as an interpreter. He then worked as an Arab affairs and land purchase agent for the postwar Palestine Jewish Community's Representative Council. He was a member of Ahdut ha-Avodah (Unity of Labor) and later of Mapei (Israel Workers' Party). From 1922 to 1924, he studied at the London School of Economics and was active in Poalei Zion (Workers of Zion). He then became deputy editor of the Histadrut Labor Federation's daily Davar newspaper in 1925 and edited its English-language weekly until 1931, when he assumed the post of Secretary of the Jewish Agency's Political Department.

From 1933 until 1948, Sharett was in effect the Zionist movement's ambassador and chief negotiator vis-a-vis the British Mandatory Authorities. Though the British incarcerated him for four months in Latrun detention camp, he later succeeded in establishing the British Army's Jewish Brigade in 1944, which provided the postwar lifeline and illegal repatriation route to Mandatory Palestine for tens of thousands of the remnant of European Jewry.

In 1947, he appeared before the United Nations General Assembly in the vital partition debate and was one of the signatories of Israel's Declaration of Independence.

The Lavon Affair is a spy story in Israel's early years that left a nasty mark on the young state, with reverberations for the following 20 years. Its name derived from Israeli Defense Minister Pinhas Lavon, though it is also referred to as "Esek HaBish" or "The Mishap".

Revolving around nearly a dozen young Egyptian Jews who agreed to spy for Israel against their home country, the affair taps into a story of idealism and self-sacrifice as well as abandonment and an unwillingness to take responsibility.

East coast of 19th century America had a slightly different approach ...

The History of Americanization through Education: Richard Henry Pratt's Legacy | A Thesis - Colby College | (2013)

The history of "Americanization through education" began even before America gained its independence. Although they did not use this phrase, when Cotton Mather and the Puritans arrived in New England they had a desire to create a "City on a Hill," which led to a very homogenized society that emphasized conformity. While Mather and others focused on white settlers, they applied the same basic principles to the Native Americans they encountered. In 1672 the Pilgrims wrote that "if any of the Indians shall be brought to civility, and shall come amongst the English to inhabit in any of their plantations, and shall there live civilly and orderly, that such Indians shall have allotments among the English." Thus, early in the country's history there was not only a stress for uniformity among whites, but this homogeneity extended to, and was expected of, Native Americans. What this Pilgrim writing seems to indicate is that if Native Americans acted like whites and accepted their way of life, the two groups could, in theory, live in harmony.

Once America gained its independence from England in the late eighteenth-century, the uniformity Mather encouraged evolved into what can be called "Americanization." Noah Webster wrote textbooks, the first of which was published in 1829 and sold over twenty million copies, used for Americanization that focused on creating a uniform language and "harmony of the United States." Newly printed dictionaries stressed the uniqueness of the American language with specific pronunciations and the American spellings of the English words. In addition to language, the Americanization effort established an overall separation from the country's colonial past through a unified religious-political identity. The Americanizers focused on the rigidity of European religion and class, and the oppression and the lack of freedom found throughout Europe. Americanization played a key role in solidifying the nation's independence and creating a sense of national identity. The "true" Americans were increasingly understood to be the colonists who had fought for freedom and who in turn wanted any newcomers to the country to incorporate themselves into this society and adopt its principles and practices.

Opened in 1879 in Pennsylvania, the Carlisle Indian Industrial School

One can interchange "Indians" and savages by today's adversaries of America,  and Americanization by Democratization and one can understand the War on Terror is an Enduring Operation and will continue until the "(Far) East was Won".

Hollywood used in war propaganda and painting over genocide and a revision of American History. The Republicans in Red States are quite blunt in correcting the educational curriculum in their image.

The man most hated by Garry Kasparov and his Ukrainian cronies ...

Chomsky began his life as a public intellectual with his trenchant essay, The Responsibility of Intellectuals. The most left-wing story permissible in mainstream political discourse in America is that because of overflowing benevolence, the US fought a war in Vietnam to protect its people from communist tyranny. However, because of some variety of blunders, it was unable to achieve this lofty goal, and perhaps committed some cruelties along the way. [😡 perhaps??]

Chomsky raised a different issue: that the US had no right to invade a country on the other side of the planet to install its own preferred puppet government, in defiance of the wishes of that country's population. In the leading journal of the American liberal intelligentsia, Chomsky basically accused America's liberal intelligentsia of moral bankruptcy.

Turkey's intel agency MİT helped Jihadists kidnap foreigners in Syria | Stockholm Center for Freedom - 2017 |

The attack came only five days before then-Prime Minister and current President Erdoğan's scheduled visit to Washington to meet US President Barack Obama in the White House. The plausible explanation was that MİT staged the Reyhanlı bombing through the contractor Toubaljeh as a false flag operation to prod the US into a military engagement in Syria to oust President Bashar al-Assad from power.

In a separate case, Toubaljeh was named as a suspect in moving three Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) terrorists who killed three people, including two police officers in the central Anatolian province of Niğde in March 2014. The ISIL militants, identified as Çendrim Ramadani, Benjamin Xu and Muhammed Zakiri, who are citizens of Switzerland, Germany and Macedonia, respectively, were later convicted. The court asked for the probe on the link between ISIL militants and the MİT, but later dropped when judges and prosecutors looking into the case were reassigned.

Toubaljeh's name also surfaced in May 2013 in the case of 12 members of Syria's militant al-Nusra group arrested in connection with the seized chemical materials that could be used to make sarin gas (also known as nerve gas), which was going to be used in a bomb attack on Turkish soil. The ringleader of the network was a man identified as Hytham Quassap, another name allegedly used by Toubaljeh. He was arrested by Turkish police but let go in July 2013. Toubaljeh is believed to have been involved in numerous cases of smuggling as well as the transfer of almost 1,000 rocket heads to Syria, which were intercepted in November 2013 in Adana by security forces.

For a nation build on "In God We Trust" has a constitutional conflict with "Separation of Church and State." Will Alito be declared a saint in Rome?

Justice Samuel Alito, who wrote the ruling, dismissed criticism from a host of prominent figures, including UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

He joked that Mr Johnson, who leaves office in September, had "paid the price" for arguing against the verdict.

Mr Alito, a devout Catholic, was speaking at a conference in Rome.

"I had the honour this term of writing I think the only supreme court decision in the history of that institution that has been lambasted by a whole string of foreign leaders who felt perfectly fine commenting on American law," Mr Alito said.

Mr Alito's previously unannounced speech was delivered to the Religious Liberty Conference on 21 July and emerged after the University of Notre Dame, who hosted the event, posted footage online.

From his rant in Rome ...

"Therefore, we can't lightly assume that the religious liberty enjoyed today in the United States, in Europe, and in many other places will always endure. Religious liberty is fragile, and religious intolerance and persecution have been recurring features of human history," he said.

Indeed, Rome is where St. Peter, St. Paul, and countless other early Christians were martyred.

"If we look around the world today, we see that people of many different faiths face persecution because of religion," Alito said, noting that religious liberty is a life-or-death matter in many parts of the globe. He cited examples of groups such as the Yazidis in northern Iraq [Al Qaeda linked Islamic State], Christians in Nigeria [Boko Haram], Coptic Christians in Egypt [ISIS], and Uyghurs in China that have been victims of horrific violence.

1) Yazidis do have death by stoning for sex outside of marriage and honor killing.

This man is unfit for office ... a big a$$hole just as GWB who thought it fit to select him for the Supreme Court. I miss any reference to the Holocaust and role of Rome, the Indigenous Indians across North, Central and South America, the Eastern Orthodox Christians in Syria martyred by NATO intervention. Her speech was, organisers said, the first political statement at the televised ceremony - beginning a trend which continues to this day.

Introducing herself on behalf of Brando - who wrote "a very long speech" - she briefly told the audience "that he very regretfully cannot accept this very generous award".

"And the reasons for this being the treatment of American Indians today by the film industry and on television in movie re-runs, and also with recent happenings at Wounded Knee," she said - in reference to a violent stand-off with federal agents at a site of significant importance to the Sioux people.

She was met with boos - and some cheers - from the audience.

In 2020, Littlefeather told the BBC that straight after the speech she had to leave the stage with two security guards. But, she added, it "was a very good thing" as actor John Wayne was backstage (secured by six security men); she said he was "furious with Marlon and furious with me" and wanted to pull her off stage himself.
