When governments don't show leadership and choose to fight a frontier war of military expansion to the border of Russia, people will suffer on all fronts.
Bread, hunger and rising cost of living led to the Arab Spring in Tunisia and in Lebanon, Syria in 2011. Foreign powers exploited the discrepancy between the elites in power and the working men on the streets. Feeds the looming anger instead of the bellies of wives and children sustaining a bare minimum to survive.
Rightwing governments will fail and hopefully fall to a more social-democratic leadership who will refuse to fight proxy wars for the empires still about.
The unrest in The Netherlands has led to PM Rutte live firing at the farmer protest which by itself was a culmination of years of anger and poor communication of policy ... the last 12 years of Rutte I thru Rutte IV.
PM Mark Rutte he would take a tough stance on farmers' protest as he refused to communicate and appointed a "mediator" London style, from his own conservative party who negotiated the basis for Rutte IV coalition.

The Netherlands is to form the centre for global food innovation with the Global Coordinating Secretariat (GCS) in Wageningen. This was announced by Dutch Prime Minister Rutte during a digital meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The GCS is part of the WEF's food system initiative to drive innovations and new technologies in the food chain that contribute to global food security. From the Netherlands, the GCS will manage the further development of global regional food innovation hubs, including the European hub in Food Valley Wageningen.

The growing dominance of supermarkets in the food sector in the Netherlands and elsewhere, through the use of this competitive model, has negative impacts on millions of farmers and workers who grow and process food under harsh conditions.
Oxfam commissioned new research for its Behind the Barcodes campaign, which is set out in the main campaign report Ripe for Change. It included research into the distribution of value and power in food supply chains, a Supermarkets Scorecard, and a number of cases studies, including one focussed on seafood supply chains.
During the Cold War, subsidized dairy farming had a surplus of products. Sometimes the prices were lower than feasible to bring the products to market.
