Israeli far-right minister Ben Gvir leads incursion of Al-Aqsa compound | Al Jazeera - 27 July 2023 |

The visit comes as some hardline Israeli Jewish settlers promote the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israel's far-right national security minister Itamar  en-Gvir has led a group of more than one thousand ultranationalist settlers to the Al-Aqsa compound in occupied East Jerusalem, his third such entrance to the site this year.

The provocative minister's entrance to the holy site took place as Jews observed Tisha B'Av<, a fast day mourning the destruction of two ancient Jewish temples.

"This place is important to us and we have to return to it and prove our sovereignty," Ben-Gvir said as he led the group, adding that the "unity of the nation of Israel is important".

Ben-Gvir consistently makes anti-Palestinian remarks and was a former youth leader of a now-banned group that Israel has declared a "terrorist" organisation.

The visit comes as some hardline Israeli Jewish groups promote the destruction of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound - one of the holiest sites in Islam and a Palestinian national symbol - and the construction of a third Jewish temple in its place.

We strongly condemn the Dutch government's blow to Palestinian civil society | Mondoweiss - 16 Jan. 2022 |

The European Legal Support Center (ELSC) and The Rights Forum strongly condemn the decision of the Dutch government to end its funding to the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC). This decision was made despite an external investigation that affirmed UAWC's institutional independence and cleared the organisation of the main charges levied against it by the Israeli government and its extremist allies.

Decision made by caretaker cabinet of Rutte III, in last days before new ministers in cabinet Rutte IV would be sworn in. Cowards.

Israel/OPT: Silencing of Palestinian Civil Society Organisations Must End | Geneva Int'l Center for Justice |

In October 2021, Israel banned the seven NGOs accusing them to have ties with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and labelled them as "terrorist" organisations. A decision that was widely condemned and criticised by the international community.

Background

Six Palestinian human rights and humanitarian organisations were designated as terrorist groups by the Israeli government on 18th August 2022. Palestinian civil society is already struggling under occupation and counter-terrorism laws, which are chipping away at the space left for civic engagement. Palestinian humanitarian organisations continue to face threats as the humanitarian crisis in Palestine worsens. The restrictive policies imposed on Palestinian humanitarian Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) by Israel, the Palestinian Authority (PA), and western donors over the past decade have caused these organisations to suffer. The status quo ensures these organisations stay vulnerable and set up to fail.

Who's sending death threats to Palestinian advocates in The Hague? | +972Mag - Aug. 17, 2016 |

In an interview with +972, the Hague representative of Al-Haq, a Palestinian human rights group, talks about the slew of threats she and her organization have received for months, and why she believes the Israeli government is behind them.

In a small ceremony in The Hague on April 1, 2015, the Palestinian Authority officially signed the Rome Statute, the legal covenant enabling the prosecution of individuals at the International Criminal Court (ICC) on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. Saeb Erekat, the PA's chief negotiator, called it "a historic day in the struggle for justice, freedom and peace for our people and all those seeking justice worldwide."

A few months later, four Palestinian human rights organizations - Al-Haq, Al Mezan, Aldameer, and the Palestinian Center for Human Rights - submitted communiqués to the ICC detailing numerous counts of suspected war crimes committed during the 2014 Gaza War, codenamed "Operation Protective Edge" by the Israeli military. Raji Sourani, Director of PCHR, stated that "Israel is unwilling and Palestine is unable to domestically hold to account Israeli perpetrators of international crimes. We need the ICC to break the cycle of impunity."

I founded al-Haq in 1979. Israeli now considers it to be a terrorist group, along with other vital humans rights organisations
* Raja Shehadeh is a Palestinian writer and lawyer

I was one of the founders of the human rights organisation Al-Haq in 1979 and remain proud of its work over the past four decades in defending human rights in the Israeli occupied territories. I was horrified when it was declared to be a terrorist organisation by the Israeli defence minister on 19 October, along with five other Palestinian NGOs.

During the many years of direct Israeli occupation, from 1967 to 1995, there was a long and expanding list of proscribed groups issued by the Israeli military commander under "emergency" regulations first put in place by the British in 1945. Al-Haq was never on this list.

In 1980, an Israeli army patrol passing by Al-Haq's small office in Ramallah late at night became suspicious of the cars parked nearby and stormed the meeting, roughing up some of the staff. At the time a representative of Amnesty International was attending the meeting. When we lodged a complaint the army began an interminable investigation of the incident, which after many years was still not concluded. Yet the storming of the organisation's office was never repeated - not even during the reinvasion of the West Bank in 2002, when offices of a large number of organisations in Ramallah were trashed.

US set to remove Kahane's `Kach' group from foreign terrorism blacklist | TOI - 15 May 2022 |

A US official speaking to The Times of Israelclarified the move as it related to Kahane Chai, saying the revocation "was required by US law since there was insufficient evidence from the last five years that [the] organization, directed or engaged in terrorist activity."

However, the US official said that Kahane Chai "will remain a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) entity," even if it is dropped from the FTO list. "The US government remains concerned by the legacy of Kahane Chai and the continued use of its rhetoric among violent right wing extremists."

The SDGT designations will remain for a number of reasons, "including to support law enforcement actions or ensure frozen assets aren't released to still active terrorists," the US official said.

After caretaker PM Mark Rutte on his “peace” mission, Israel answered with the deadliest night on the civilian population of the Gaza Strip murdering over 400 people.

Rutte heads for Israel for talks with Netanyahu and Abbas | Dutch News |

Prime minister Mark Rutte is in Tel Aviv on Monday for a lighting visit to meet Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Later in the day he will also hold talks with Palestine’s president Mahmoud Abbas, the state information service confirmed.

Rutte said earlier on social media he had spoken to Netanyahu about the Dutch woman who was killed in Gaza after becoming stranded there with her four sons.

In that message he also repeated his earlier statement that Israel has the right to defend itself but that “Israel must do all it can to prevent ordinary people becoming victims of the battle against Hamas.”

“The tragic situation in Gaza calls for humanitarian pauses to allow much-needed aid to get through for Gaza’s innocent civilians,” Rutte said. “Gaza needs a sustainable humanitarian corridor for aid and essential goods such as food, water and fuel.”

Rutte said everything must be done to prevent the conflict from spreading to other regions and reiterated the need for a two-state solution. [blah, blah, blah that option has long gone to the dustbin of history … and Rutte knows it!]

French president Emmanuel Macron will visit Israel on Tuesday. Rutte said on Sunday evening he had spoken to both Macron and Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi about the situation on Sunday evening.

After millions died in the Middle East to give a false security to the apartheid state of Israel during so many years of a failed effort to find peace … President Sadat gave his life for peace with Israel, Yitzak Rabin gave his life in search of peace, and now war criminal Netanyahu, who tore up the Oslo Accords, gives a speech about the Holocaust and 9/11 … SHAME ON YOU ... How many Palestinians have you butchered?

The Dutch Prime Minister Marc Rutte has called for humanitarian pauses to allow the flow of aid into Gaza. He made the call during a visit to Israel and Palestine.

Al Jazeera’s Hoda Abdel-Hamid is in Ramallah, in the Occupied West Bank for the latest updates.

Dutch PM meeting with Israeli PM Netanyahu & Palestinian Authority President Abbas

Transcript of Al Jazeera interview:

Asked about proportionality, this is what he had to say.

Mark Rutte: First of all, I cannot judge, but of course I’m worried, but I cannot judge whether at the moment … ehh … yes or no Israel is completely … ehh … working within the lines of proportionality and international human law, ehh humanitarian law … I cannot judge that because I do not know all the facts on the table … this of course is up to Israel at this moment to navigate. But I very much stressed the point and the practicality of that is the humanitarian access, the practicality of that is preventing regional escalation, the practicality of that is taking out the hostages and the foreigners … and the practicality is to do everything, and that is the main issue, of preventing innocent civilians to be … ehh … to be … ehh … to ... ehh .. killed if not necessary.

Dutch right wing media De Telegraaf and BNR, even a former progressive newspaper De Volkskrant backs the mission by Mark Rutte and supporting the false rhetoric Rutte is even-handed and an experienced European leader to make a difference. Not even Biden has a say in how Israel will “defend itself” as it has done for over 75 years. Complete bull to keep the home front “together”.

Kerry’s Speech: America Lost in Two-State Ether, Israel Spied on Nations Supporting UN Vote | Tikun Olam – 29 Dec. 2016 |

Under president Trump and continued under Biden/Blinken the so-called Abraham Accords was a capitalist trap to tap into the Middle East Arab wealth while discarding International treaties, UNSC Resolutions and the Rights of Palestinians to their own rightful land: the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

This war didn’t start on that dreadful Saturday morning. The 7th of October.

War criminal leadership in Jerusalem, with Bibi Netanyahu still PM under criminal investigation, called the Palestinian cause after 9/11 attacks, a terrorist state equated to Al Qaeda.

Today the same idiot called Hamas a terrorist group equal in cruelty to ISIS … jihadists sprung from the American invasion and occupation of Iraq, funded and supported in part by Arab States and later moved into Raqqa and Syria with support from Türkiye and most NATO countries. Israel gave support to the al Nusra terror group. Or were these crimes attributed to “freedom fighters” for a Free Syria?

UN chief alleges violations of law in Gaza, angering Israel | RFI |

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres alleged violations of international law in Gaza and urged an immediate ceasefire as Israel pounds the Palestinian territory in response to Hamas attacks, with the crisis deeply dividing the Security Council.

Israel voiced anger over the UN chief's plea before a high-level session of the Security Council, where the Palestinian foreign minister in turn denounced what he described as inaction in the conflict that has killed thousands on both sides, mostly civilians.

Opening the session, Guterres said there was no excuse for the "appalling" violence by Hamas militants on October 7 but also warned against "collective punishment" of the Palestinians.

Guterres said that the Palestinians had been "subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation," telling the Security Council: "It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum."

His remarks infuriated Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen who, pointing his finger at Guterres and raising his voice, recounted graphic accounts of civilians including young children killed on October 7 in the deadliest single attack in Israeli history.

"Mr Secretary-General, in what world do you live?" Cohen said.

Rejecting tying the violence to the occupation, Cohen said Israel gave Gaza to the Palestinians "to the last millimeter" with its withdrawal in 2005.

Israel shortly afterward imposed a blockade of the impoverished territory, in place ever since, after Hamas took power, and still occupies the West Bank.

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, called on Guterres to resign -- writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the UN chief has "expressed an understanding for terrorism and murder."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposes to organise "International Conference on Palestine-Israel Peace" in which all influential actors in the region will participate. He also offers Türkiye's guarantorship system for Israel-Palestine peace.

Extremely divided within the EC Commission, individual states call for a ceasefire for humanitarian aid and medical supplies into the Gaza Strip refugees camps.

Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Tuesday called for an end to the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, saying "enough is enough."

"We are saying enough is enough," Sheikh Tamim said at the opening of the 52nd annual session of the country's Shura Council, adding that Israel should not be allowed to use water, medicines and food as weapons against an entire population.

In rare praise, Israel hails Qatar's 'crucial' diplomatic efforts in Gaza crisis. As I understand Qatar is mediating for the release of all captives held by Hamas.

Will Israel be forced to negotiate a definitive peace and accept a sovereign Palestine in a two-state or one single democratic state to end illegal occupation and apartheid. There may be no other escape for Israel to live in peace with its neighbors as codified in the UN Charter.

Macron calls for anti-IS group international coalition to fight Hamas | France24 |

An Élysée Palace source said Macron's proposal "draws inspiration from the experience of the Global Coalition against Daesh and seeing what aspects can be replicated against Hamas".

The coalition was set up in 2014 and says it has 86 "members" - countries and groups such as the European Union and the Arab League.

It has focused on countering the IS group in Iraq and Syria but is also aimed at cutting off funding to the jihadists, the sharing of intelligence and support for many countries, including the training of Iraqi forces.

Macron was the latest in a string of western leaders to voice support for Israel's riposte to the Palestinian militant group after the attacks which Israel says left 1,400 people dead, mostly civilians.

The Hamas government says 5,791 people have been killed in Israel's retaliatory bombardment of the Palestinian enclave, also mainly civilians. Israel says that its hundreds of air raids each day aim for Hamas leaders and military targets.

The annihilation of Daesh and its savagery | Gulf News - 21 Dec. 2018 |

Point of departure

When you consider how, after the Arabs' humiliating defeat in the June war of 1967, all the secular ideologies that had then animated the public debate -- such as pan-Arabism, Nasserism, Baathism, socialism -- proved to be hollow and worthless, you begin to see a vacuum there.

And human nature, as we know, abhors a vacuum. At a time when Arabs needed a mythology of hope to live by -- for man does not live by bread alone -- what better one was there to turn to than Islam, a source of identity and power, whose holy texts grew out of the very bosom of one's culture?

Arab War Plans Revealed

In September 1965, Arab leaders and their military and intelligence chiefs met secretly at the Casablanca Hotel in Morocco to discuss whether they were ready to go to war against Israel and, if so, whether they should create a joint Arab command. The host of the meeting, King Hassan II, did not trust his Arab League guests and initially planned to allow a joint Shin Bet-Mossad unit known as "The Birds" to spy on the conference. A day before the conference was scheduled to begin, however, the king told them to leave out of fear they would be noticed by the Arab guests. Hassan secretly recorded the meeting and gave it to the Israelis, who learned the Arabs were gearing up for war, but were divided and unprepared.

"These recordings, which were truly an extraordinary intelligence achievement, further showed us that, on the one hand, the Arab states were heading toward a conflict that we must prepare for. On the other hand, their rambling about Arab unity and having a united front against Israel didn't reflect real unanimity among them," said Major General Shlomo Gazit, who headed the Research Department of Israel's Military Intelligence Directorate.

Meir Amit, Mossad chief at the time, described the Morocco operation as "one of the crowning glories of Israeli intelligence " in a memo to then-prime minister Levi Eshkol.

At home caretaker PM Mark Rutte meets representatives from Jewish and Muslim community. Rutte has exploited racism and Islamophobia to gain the right wing vote. The VVD has been Islamophobic from its ranks brought forth Rita Verdonk, Ayaan Hirshi Ali and Geert Wilders. After thirteen years wasted .... now Rutte responds when the Gaza War is unstoppable and the death toll approaches 10,000, a majority innocent Israelis and Palestinians, women, infants and children. Gross negligence to leave Israel becoming a fascist, colonial and oppressing state where human rights are  violated on a daily basis.

Two points were made by Mark Rutte, indeed facts ...

  • Doesn't believe in a ceasefire
  • Europe can do nothing

UN Guterres too Condemns Israel's Treatment of the civilian population of Gaza.

Labour has betrayed British Muslims over Gaza - that's why I resigned from the party | The Guardian Opinion |

I am one of least 23 Labour councillors who have resigned from the party since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war. At Oxford city council, where I now sit as an independent, eight of us have left. The reason I quit is because the leader of the Labour party, Keir Starmer, horrifyingly endorsed the collective punishment of Palestinians in Gaza.

In an LBC interview on 11 October, pressed on whether Israel's siege of Gaza - cutting off power and water - was appropriate, he said: "I think that Israel does have that right, it is an ongoing situation. Obviously, everything should be done within international law, but I don't want to step away from the core principles that Israel has a right to defend herself."

I found this response disturbing because Israel's actions are a form of collective punishment, which is illegal under international law. Starmer is a former human rights barrister and must have known this. His words echoed those of the shadow attorney general, Emily Thornberry, who also refused to condemn the cutting off of water and electricity.

To date neither Starmer nor anyone from his shadow cabinet have openly and loudly called for a ceasefire or for an end to Israel's lethal and indiscriminate use of force, which is pulverising Gaza - one of the most densely populated parts of the world, crammed with 2.2 million people, almost half of whom are children under the age of 18.

As someone involved in international aid for more than 15 years, I have worked across the region including in the Palestinian occupied territories. I have seen the refugee camps of Gaza, the jarringly idyllically named Beach camp and Jabalia camp, which have both been bombed.

Movers and shakers in Israeli society

PRIME MINISTER Benjamin Netanyahu in his black attire with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte. (photo credit: Kobi Gideon/GPO)

While clothes may not make the man, the impressions we give are often prompted by the way we dress. In one of the many proverbs acquired from Shakespearean plays, is one from Hamlet in which Polonius advises his son Laertes to dress well because "apparel oft proclaims the man." This may explain why Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has traded in his business suits, white shirts, and blue or red ties for black pants and open-necked black shirts, even when meeting dignitaries from abroad who have flown into Israel to demonstrate solidarity.

But it isn't Netanyahu alone. The war cabinet triumvirate, which includes Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and former defense minister and IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz, were identically attired in black at Saturday night's press conference. The image was one of power dressing, though it's not certain that this is the message that came across, considering that all three are balding with gray or white hair, lined faces and sagging flesh at the jawline.

    ■ SINCE SATURDAY night, Netanyahu has been subject to increased attacks by the media and from present and former colleagues, many of whom have called for him to resign.

UNSC deepening crisis in Gaza with one-sided approach: President Erdogan | TRT World |

"United Nations Security Council was deepening the crisis with a 'one-sided approach' rather than stopping the killings, forging a ceasefire, and preventing civilian deaths," says Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The International community is failing in the face of Israel's lawless and indiscriminate attacks on civilians in Palestine's Gaza, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

In his message on the 78th anniversary of the UN, Erdogan thanked those working under its framework for peace, prosperity, justice, and harmony in the world on Tuesday.

He said humanity was facing a range of problems, including conflicts in Palestine and Ukraine, climate change, hunger, poverty, and Islamophobia.

"Since Oct. 7, we have been witnessing massacres in Gaza that target civilian settlements, places of worship, hospitals, and schools and have reached the level of genocide," the Turkish leader said.

"Unfortunately, the international community is failing in the face of Israel's lawless, indiscriminate attacks on civilians."

He said the UN Security Council was deepening the crisis with a "one-sided approach" rather than stopping the killings, forging a ceasefire, and preventing civilian deaths.

An organisation that is a bystander to "collective punishment" of the people in Gaza cannot offer hope to humanity, and ensure peace, stability, he said.

The protection of civilians must be upheld at all times, the head of the UN agency that assists Palestine refugees, UNRWA, said on Saturday, appealing for an end to attacks on places such as schools, hospitals and the homes of his staff.

The UN institutions, including the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, the UNRWA, are being made dysfunctional by the UN Security Council, Erdogan said. "Another UN agency is doing the most harm to the reputation of the UN."

A history of the Marine Corps participation in the Lebanon Crisis from July-October 1958

    U.S. Marines in Lebanon - 1958

    The Political Background

The waning British and French influence in the Middle East after World War II gave rise to constant strife in this area of the world.  The region was not only stirred by the growth of local nationalism but also by the conflict between the East and West in the Cold War.  Crisis followed crisis as the newly independent states attempted to adjust to the post war world.

In 1948, after the British had given up the attempt to pacify Palestine, Jews and Arabs clashed in the short Arab-Israeli War of that year.  The antagonism between the Jewish state of Israel and its Arab neighbors has become a permanent feature of Middle East relations.  This hostility was intensified by the 1952 revolution in Egypt and the subsequent rise to undisputed power in 1954 of its strongest figure, Gamal Abdul Nasser.  Sparked by his leadership, there arose a new mutant pan-Arab movement over which Egypt attempted to gain hegemony.

"This Arab Nationalism contributed to a series of events-the Egyptian arms deal with Russia, the withdrawal of the U. S. offer to assist the Aswan Dam project, and Nasser's nationalization of the Suez Canal-that culminated in the Suez crisis of 1956, when the Israelis attacked Egypt and the British and French intervened."  This intervention, though blocked by the United Nations, served to reinforce Arab anti-Western sentiments.  The Arab unrest led to civil strife in Lebanon, and the overthrow of a Western aligned government in Iraq in 1958.

US getting bogged down as Palestine-Israel conflict escalates: observer

    US Achilles' heel

Israel's continued military operation is also bogging the US down with regard to military involvement in the Middle East. The Pentagon said on Saturday that the US will send a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system and an additional Patriot air defense missile system battalion to the Middle East, in response to recent attacks on US troops in the region.

A US official told the CNN that a US warship shot down more than a dozen drones and four cruise missiles fired by Yemen's Houthi rebel militia between 19 and 20 October.

The US has sent a significant amount of naval power to the Middle East, including two aircraft carriers, their support ships and about 2,000 marines.

An escalation of the Palestine-Israel conflict is not what Washington desires as it is not in line with its interests, moreover, the US will inevitably have to get involved if tensions increase, Li said, adding that "the more military presence the US has in the region, the higher the chance is that the US will be targeted and therefore drawn into the crisis."

Guterres tells the truth about Israel's Illegal Occupation and Human Rights offenses | The Guardian |

The personal tensions between the Guterres and Israeli officials comes as UNRWA, the UN humanitarian agency for Palestinian refugees, warned that it was hours away from being forced to close its operations in Gaza, including the provision of hospital care, due to Israel's blockade on fuel. Israel also vowed to stop UN officials coming to Israel in a bid to teach the UN a lesson.

    [...]

Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, responded by accusing the UN of continued bias and hatred of Israel. He added: "It is a disgrace to the UN that the secretary general does not retract his words and is not even able to apologise for what he said yesterday.

Earlier, Erdan said on army radio: "Due to his remarks, we will refuse to issue visas to UN representatives. We have already refused a visa for the undersecretary general for humanitarian affairs, Martin Griffiths. The time has come to teach them a lesson."

The response reflects a long-running Israeli belief that UN agencies, especially the UN human rights council, have an anti-Israeli agenda. But there was also strong support among Arab countries for Guterres's approach. There are also signs that western countries, without directing him, want the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to re-evaluate his strategy, including by cooperating with the UN.

It is not clear how far Erdan's proposed visa ban extends within the UN hierarchy. A large number of UN workers, for instance, are employed by UNRWA.

Griffiths, a former British diplomat and special envoy on Yemen, has been forthright in warning that levels of UN aid into Gaza are woefully inadequate. He has repeatedly called for a ceasefire to allow aid into the territory.

A well known concept amongst Israelis is "shunning". Misrepresentation to provoke.

As US resists ceasefire calls, what is Biden's endgame in Gaza? | Al Jazeera |

"Not only are they at odds with each other, but the higher priority of the administration appears to be supporting Israel, rather than making sure that there is no dangerous escalation," said Trita Parsi, executive vice president at the Quincy Institute, a think tank that promotes diplomacy.

"There does not appear to be a clear endgame from the Biden administration," Parsi said. "When it comes to this strategic image, it's very difficult to be able to discern a clear strategy that actually would have the desired results."

Gaza: Language of Genocide | Tikun Olam |

Language is an important influence on political views, official policy and outcomes. It is the first to signify attitudes and reveal the consciousness of a nation. It can arouse a sense of grievance and target victims. Language leads to action, to official policy.

At its worst, it can legitimize crimes against humanity.  It can dehumanize minorities and then then turn them into real victims of genocide. It conceals mass murder under a cloud of euphemism.  This process is true for all genocides.

Victor Klemperer, documented the language of the Nazi Holocaust in his book, Lingua Tertii Imperii, which an Israeli blogger has updated for the Hebrew language.

Specifically, in the case of the Gaza war-statements, and the language in which they are articulated in media coverage, comments by government officials, and Jewish leaders- legitimize Israeli genocide. At times they do so unintentionally, at times explicitly. But taken together, such language enables genocide and offers support to Israel as it perpetrates it.

When a US president and his spokesman deny Palestinian deaths by claiming the Gaza health ministry reporting them is an arm of Hamas, this too is the language of denial.

The saddest event since the establishment of Israel, yet so many have warned the country was heading to a new catastrophe.

The response of the global community should be one of compassion for the Palestinian people, a nation without a state. This effectively delegitimizes Israel's establishment as the full intent of two state living in peace was never realized. Nakba was a crime against humanity in a turbulent periode of the Middle East. Zionism has out of desperation of Bibi Netanyahu, formed a cabinet with a terrorist group named after Kahane. Relentless provocation and crimes against the rights of Palestinian was the result.

In time of great need, it are Jewish voices that call for the end of genocide. The so-called Abraham Accords of economic wealth sealed the fate of Palestine and unwittingly too the future of the Jewish state. The victim has indeed become the perpetrator and the Western world, especially the Europe Union, a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, had been a total failure in support for a Free Palestine.

Unfortunately on this event, one of your best writings Richard .... grieving 😢 and much appreciated.

I have come to the conclusion, the ICC in my hometown of The Hague, city of Carnegie and Peace ☮️ ,has been taken hostage as a political tool by the U.S., UK and the Dutch under Mark Rutte. To further his personal ambition to become the next SG of NATO by his decisions, he sold out the Dutch and the Palestinian people. Rutte was fond of president Trump and Boris Johnson ... figures.

Yad Vashem head: Erdan's yellow star stunt at UN 'dishonors Holocaust victims, Israel' | Times of Israel |

Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum director Dani Dayan calls out Israel's Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan for donning a yellow Star of David during his address to the Security Council yesterday, saying it "dishonors both the victims of the Holocaust 🕯️ and the State of Israel 🇮🇱 ."

"The yellow patch symbolizes the helplessness of the Jewish people and being at the mercy of others. Today we have an independent country and a strong army," Dayan tweets.

"We are masters of our destiny. Today we place a blue-white flag on the lapel, not a yellow patch," he adds.

Under Ottoman Rule how were Christians, Jews and Sunny Arabs living together in Palestine, the Damascus Eyalet (directorate)? Would be interested in your ancestor's history from 1812 forward.

Spanish Alhambra decree of the Inquisition of 1492, Jewish refugees were welcomed in Constantinople.

Expulsion as Zionism's logical imperative was clearly seen by Herzl as early as June 12, 1895. At the time he was still formulating his ideas about Zionism and confided to his diary: "We shall try to spirit the penniless population [Palestinians] across the border by procuring employment for it in the transit countries, while denying it any employment in our own country. Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly."

Herzl was a man of his time.

    Zionism and German Colonial Fantasies

The fallacy of colonizing Palestinian land should never have become doctrine of the Jewish State. Colonizers throughout history of mankind brought with them Genocide of the indigenous peoples. See the life of Raphael Lemkin:

According to Lemkin, colonization was in itself "intrinsically genocidal" He saw this genocide as a two-stage process, the first being the destruction of the indigenous population's way of life. In the second stage, the newcomers impose their way of life on the indigenous group.

In November 1944, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace published Axis Rule in Occupied Europe. This book included an extensive legal analysis of German rule in countries occupied by Nazi Germany during the course of World War II, along with the definition of the term genocide. Lemkin's idea of genocide as an offence against international law was widely accepted by the international community and was one of the legal bases of the Nuremberg Trials. In 1945 to 1946, Lemkin became an advisor to Supreme Court of the United States Justice and Nuremberg Trial chief counsel Robert H. Jackson. The book became one of the foundational texts in Holocaust studies, and the study of totalitarianism, mass violence, and genocide studies.

German 'Cultural Scripts': Public Signs as a Key to Social Attitudes and Cultural Values

Wierzbicka notes that in recent decades great changes have undoubtedly occurred in German ways of speaking and, it can be presumed, in underlying cultural values. For example, the dramatic spread of the use of the `familiar' form of address (du, as opposed to Sie), and the decline in the use of titles (e.g. Herr Müller instead of Prof. Müller) point to significant changes in interpersonal relations, in the direction of more egalitarian informality. At the same time, she shows that evidence of contemporary public signs which are discussed here suggests that some traditional German values, like the value of social discipline and of Ordnung (order) based on legitimate authority, are far from obsolete.
