Rutte Falls As Years Were Wasted
Preliminary analysis …
Just as Red Wall Labour in the UK was punished, so 13 years of Rutte governance in The Hague responsible for multiple cans of headache dossiers kicking down the road. Rural Netherlands punished the arrogance of rich Randstad of economic wealth, especially Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
Wopke Hoekstra and party chairman Marnix van Rij, did not represent the roots of the CDA electorate ... Hoekstra set on the lap of Mark Rutte and partied for business profits and hurting the ordinary, hard-working people. The support votes for Pieter Omtzigt was an indicator of the problems within the Christian Democrats. He was on the list in 2021 and received 342,000 votes, the equivalent of 5 seats in parliament. At the request of Mark Rutte, he should be offered a position outside of parliament because of his effort in transparency of the childcare benefits scandal due to discriminatory tax policy and AI algorithm accusation of fraud in households.
The inflation hit hard as free market policy secured the profits of big corporations and rural Netherlands were put down with austerity measures. I have written for over a decade about these one-sided policies, today the electorate finally snapped and punished Rutte and his cabinet. In his arrogance he may try to hold on to govern, he is way past healthy consumption expiration date.
Rutte has not only hurt his personal image, but especially where his party stood for. The VVD is well positioned, but the `left' has hit him straight in the nose.
Just like Pim Fortuyn, so too death threats have been frequent for BBB party leader Carolien van der Plas from the same group of animal activism in its most extreme form of idiocy.
The amazing shift in voters is quite complex and I will attempt to interpret multiple causes. The major shifts seen in last elections were part of protest votes against policy, failure to post results and combined a loss in confidence.
Four years ago, the right wing electorate VVD, Wilders (PVV), (JA21) were surprised by new party of Thierry Baudet (FvD) who took a major slice. Mark Rutte of his VVD in his arrogance, counted on these voters as Baudet has been sinking harder than his sudden rise ... Baudet is a political clown trying to copy the rise of Trump in the US. I have no idea why anyone would vote for such a nitwit ... a comedian, not a serious politician.
Large part of his succes was a protest vote and people felt The Hague had no attention for their mounting problems to be part of society and growth in wages to keep buying power. These voters swarmed to the BBB and two new young parties.
Of the established parties, biggest losers are the CDA, and both Rutte and Wilders because their voters did it return last nigh ... left out in the cold. Two parties on the left a combined Labour Party (PvdA) and Green Left did well and scored a small gain. Rutte had pointed his attack to the "Dutch Left" as the combibation was about to gain the majority in the Senate and across the 12 provinces in this election. He failed as the new BBB party is now in a neck-to-neck race or close tie leaving Rutte biting the dust.
More to come later in my posts.
Here are some of the preliminary results:
Seismic Shift Farmers Coalition Wipes Out Rutte IV
Province NH - Overijssel - NB Farmers Win Big
BBB also largest in North Brabant according to exit poll
Just like in Overijssel, according to the Ipsos exit poll, BBB will also be the largest in North Brabant. The party would end up with 12 seats, while VVD is the second party with 9 seats.
Farmers Coalition Biggest Winner National Poll
Newspaper Trouw
Carolien van der Plas, leader of Farmers BBB party has just a single seat in Dutch parliament ... her votes today came from Thierry Baudet's Forum for Democracy, Rutte's VVD and Hoekstra's Christian Democrats (CDA). There was a very large turnout and the BBB got support from 7% new voters. Of the previous CDA voters, some 25% decided to stay home and didn't vote.
The new party BBB participated in all 12 provinces with lists of new candidates in politics, have won in 11 of the 12 with Utrecht undecided, close race with Green Left party. < p>
Later I will present the result in percentages of the votes, this will illustrate the devastation for policymakers in The Hague. Especially ially compared to the Parliamentaey Election of 2021.
