Take Kremlin claims 'with shaker full of salt', says Blinken

Russia's claim that Ukraine unsuccessfully tried to kill Vladimir Putin with a drone attack on his Kremlin residence should be treated with caution, Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, has said.

"I've seen the reports. I cannot validate them, we simply don't know," Mr Blinken said at an event in Washington. "I would take anything coming out of the Kremlin with a very large shaker of salt."

Separately, another US official said the country was "still trying to validate this information".

The official added: "If there was anything, there was no warning."
