Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism: Different Religions, Same Hate | Tikun Olam - April 29, 2018 |
When he got to a discussion of the Inquisition he mentioned, of course, the expulsion of Jews and the subsequent torture of Marranos at the hands of the Church and State. But one fact was entirely new to me: the Catholic State expelled not just Jews, but the defeated Muslims (or Moors) as well. Muslims too were tortured if they were found to have concealed their continuing allegiance to Islam.
An interesting question is-why I didn't know this. Certainly it is largely because in the Jewish history courses I took at the Jewish Theological Seminary and medieval Spanish Hebrew poetry at the Hebrew University, none of this was mentioned. The question is, Why?
Living together, how do you function in the age of multiculturalism in Europe and the Netherlands. Countries may join NATO, like your fatherland Türkiye, even join the European Union, but you won't accept people of the Muslim faith. You are driving old paternalistic politics, closer to US Tea Party extremism with traits of fascism. No one is waiting for such populist leadership, we could vote for Wilders or Baudet and a few other rightwing parties.
Who is Dilan Yeşilgöz, politics by symbolism but no vision for society?
After 13 year of VVD Conservative "triumph" under leadership of Mark Rutte, a lady killer of "Law & Order" steps forward to fill his shoes.
Dilan Yesilgöz's meteoric political career started less than ten years ago in Amsterdam | AT5 |
Dilan Yesilgöz wants to succeed Mark Rutte. The Amsterdammer is thus taking the next step in her lightning political career, which started less than ten years ago in Amsterdam. Six years after being sworn in as a Member of Parliament, she will aim for the highest office as VVD party leader. She already made her strong sound heard in the city council.
In Amsterdam she was, among other things, spokesperson for refugee affairs, the topic VVD party used to end Rutte IV. During her time in Amsterdam, she said, among other things, that refugees who discriminate against fellow refugees in the emergency shelter because they are homosexual may be deported to their country of origin. Yesilgöz also declared foreign beggars undesirable and, as far as she was concerned, could be deported.
Street harassment
In the city council she also spoke frequently about the approach to street intimidation, popularly known as the 'hiss ban'. Her proposal was eventually swept aside by the court; hissing and street harassment falls under freedom of speech.
These are politically interesting times nationally with the elections just around the corner. Elections in The Hague often mean that the breeding ground in Amsterdam is fished out. The chance that even more people will leave Amsterdam politics is therefore considerable.

Outgoing Cabinet Rutte IV shortlist to prohibit Holocaust denial | NOS.nl |
The explicit ban comes on the proposal of outgoing Minister Yesilgöz of Justice and Security. "Unfortunately, denial of this kind of horrific crimes against humanity is the order of the day. We regularly see the monster of anti-Semitism rearing its head again," says Yesilgöz. "This worries me immensely and we cannot leave it unanswered because the lesson of the Holocaust is not a history lesson."
With this decision, the government is implementing European obligations. The ban does not only apply to Holocaust denial. Other offensive forms of condoning, denial or trivialization of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes are also explicitly prohibited.
Who is Ronnie Naftaniel?

Re: Human Rights Violations by Israel
Have lost all respect for Ronnie Naftaniel ... was former spokesperson for CIDI in Amsterdam with task to make the community aware of anti-semitism. Evolving as a Lukudnik and now spouting pro-Israel and rightwing rhetoric. True colors.
