15th BRICS Summit South Africa

by Oui Wed Aug 23rd, 2023 at 11:38:41 AM EST

Trump's MAGA and Biden's SUPER MAGA leads to greater isolation of the West from China, Asia, Africa and parts of Latin America with Brazil leading.

Building walls with a Cold War doctrine of US v Them and the EU's Garden v the Jungle. The War in Ukraine symbolizes by explosions of Nord Stream 1 & 2 cutting all ties to Europe's Russia to the Urals.

After the defeat in Afghanistan, the West led by the United States and Unite Kingdom had to take a step back in the power struggle for Central Asia ... offering a regional power like Türkiye and the Islamic State of Iran new opportunities. The Middle East with the GCC countries too are confronted with a pivot. The Abraham "Economic" Accords have been paused due extremist elements in Israel government gaining power and support in the Knesset.

World POWs BRICS XV Summit

The 15th BRICS Summit kicks off today in Johannesburg | CNBC Video |

CNBC's Fifi Peters discusses the possible outcomes of the gathering in South Africa.

New Inclusive International Order

BRICS Summit 2023 - President Ramaphosa opens day two of summit, calls for new inclusive international order

President Cyril Ramaphosa has opened the second day of the 15th BRICS Summit 2023 in Sandton, calling for a new inclusive international order.

Ramaphosa said that the BRICS nations need to advance the interests of the global south and called for industrialised countries to honour their commitments to support climate actions by developing economic progress elements that "have not yet been lived up to before".

"Peace and stability are preconditions for a better, more equitable world. We are deeply concerned about conflicts across the world that continue to cause a great deal of suffering and hardship to many people around the world," Ramaphosa said.

He said that South Africa's position remained that diplomacy, dialogue, negotiation, and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter were necessary for the peaceful and just resolution of conflicts.

"We are concerned that global financial and payment systems are increasingly being used as instruments of geopolitical contestation. Global economic recovery relies on predictable global payment systems and the smooth operating of banking, supply chains trade, tourism, as well as financial flows," Ramaphosa said.

All countries have right to develop – Xi

Chinese President noted that some countries seeking hegemony are harming emerging markets and countries

JOHANNESBURG, August 22. Every country has the right to economic development, according to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s statement to the BRICS Business Forum Leaders' Dialogue, which was read out by Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao.

"Everything we are doing is geared towards bringing happiness to our peoples. But some countries, which are seeking hegemony, are harming emerging markets and developing countries. Rapid development becomes a target for containment, and overcoming problems becomes an object of obstacles. <…> But each country has the right to develop and the people of every country have the right to strive for a better life," it says.

The Chinese leader stressed the importance of the implementation of the global development initiative and stated that his country is ready for cooperation in this area.

The 15th BRICS summit is being held in South Africa from August 22 through 24. According to South Africa’s Ambassador at Large for Asia and BRICS Affairs and BRICS Sherpa Anil Sooklal, around 30 countries show interest in joining the association and some of them, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, and Ethiopia, have officially applied for membership. According to the sources of the India’s Business Standard newspaper, five countries, namely Argentina, Egypt, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia, may be admitted at the current summit.

China's President Xi Jinping has asserted that the 'Cold War Style' is still affecting the world and the geo-political situation is getting tense. In his address to the open plenary session of the 15th BRICS Summit in the South African city of Johannesburg, Xi said that BRICS countries should keep to the direction of peaceful development and consolidate the strategic partnership of the bloc. Gen Sergei Surovikin, has reportedly lost his job as air force chief | BBC News |

For several months Gen Surovikin was in charge of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine but he has not been seen since the Wagner mutiny in June.

During the hours that Wagner mercenaries marched towards Moscow on 24 June, Gen Surovikin appeared in a video appealing to them to return to base.

But his awkward performance was later compared to a hostage-style video. The general was known to have good relations with Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, who reserved his loathing for other figures in the defence hierarchy.

In the weeks after the June revolt, there were unconfirmed reports by Russian military bloggers that Gen Surovikin had been detained for questioning. But officials denied he was being held in a pre-trial detention centre and one retired general said that he was merely "resting" and unavailable.

The aircraft had been in the air for less than half an hour, it added.

An investigation has been launched into the crash and emergency services are searching the scene.

Another news agency, Ria, said eight bodies had been recovered.

Grey Zone reported that a second business jet owned by Prigozhin landed safely in the Moscow region.

The Pirates' Press is reporting everything that has not occurred at the summit, as is the custom—since 2009. MSM has tilled the soil of "so-called" Global South grievances, sowed a couple plots of futility, and they're gonna irrigate 'em, so to speak, until this season of G7 EXISTENTIAL CRISES have gone to seed or IMF value chain bankruptcy is complete. Whichever occurs first.

F24, for instance, put the NIGER CRISIS on life-support in order to dedicate today's headline reportage to the villain PRIGOZHIN's purported violent end—not over the Sahel air space, but Russia's.

The situation is patently psychotic.

One might never know that TV BRICS took control of The Narrative™, political education, and knowledge transfer among members of the so-called global supply chain "hosting" critical materials and arbitrage opportunities that advanced economies covet. The schedule is intense.

Few more quotes from from quick googling of Lucas are below. It's even funny to read his dire predictions on Russia in 2000/2001. To me he looks patented Russophobe, consistently highly negative of Russia.

The West reacts to plans for enlargement | DW News |

Perhaps the US really doesn't see the BRICS plans as a serious threat. Or perhaps downplaying the group's intention to bring in Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Argentina is simply political strategy. At any rate, US national security advisor Jake Sullivan has said that the BRICS bloc is not a geopolitical rival to the United States because their interests are too different.

The White House is clearly trying not to rock the boat. No one has denounced the initiative as an open attack on American global supremacy. A State Department spokesman said that, in order to maintain global peace and security, the US "will continue to work with our partners and allies in bilateral, regional and multilateral fora ...The US reiterates its belief that countries may choose the partners and groupings with whom they will associate."
