Clingendael changed from Peace Institute to think-tank Hudson style ... far-right and warmongering .. messaging EVIL.
The Dutch suffer from the scourge of Wilders and Trump ... the latter will be back ... 75+ millions will vote to elect him ... won't even be close.
Trampling on basic human rights ... can't argue with them, as their dogmatic ritual is set in concrete and will be enforced by dictatorship if it needs be. Not my world.
Interbellum the Dutch cabinet had a Minister of War ... was changed during the Cold War to a Minister of Defense. With an aggressive stance of NATO and America across Europe, please rework the title to Minister of War in order not to propagate a false impression of intent. 🤬
As blogged before, the Clingendael institute was born during the Reagan years as a Peace Institute with Mr. Henk Neumann.
In the 90s after the fail of the Soviet Union, right-wing "scholars" change the curriculum to expansion of the capitalist empire to bring "wealth and democracy" to the jungle of Soviet satellite states in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Asia Minor. A fruitless endeavor to accomplish within a single generation. Ugly hostilities were a result and under Joe Biden an ultimate push for victory. Ukraine and the Middle East suffer the deadly forces of war.
NATO Expansion @AtlanticCouncil | Intro James Woolsey w Joe Biden - 18 June 1997 |
Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) talked about the possibility of NATO expansion and what it could mean for the future of foreign diplomacy. He outlined his support for enlargement of NATO and gave his predictions for the Senate's position on the issue. The Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland are the United States' choices for membership in NATO.
«Нет» означает «нет»
In the years 2005 to 2008, the current director of the CIA, William Burns, was the US ambassador to Russia. In this capacity, on 1 February 2008, he sent a classified message home to the US Joint Chiefs, Defense Minister Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. The message can be read on WikiLeaks and the title is very telling and highly relevant even today:
NYET MEANS NYET: RUSSIA'S NATO ENLARGEMENT REDLINES
1. (C) Summary. Following a muted first reaction to Ukraine's intent to seek a NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) at the Bucharest summit (ref A), Foreign Minister Lavrov and other senior officials have reiterated strong opposition, stressing that Russia would view further eastward expansion as a potential military threat. NATO enlargement, particularly to Ukraine, remains «an emotional and neuralgic» issue for Russia, but strategic policy considerations also underlie strong opposition to NATO membership for Ukraine and Georgia. In Ukraine, these include fears that the issue could potentially split the country in two, leading to violence or even, some claim, civil war, which would force Russia to decide whether to intervene.
From Clingendael to his own think tank Rob de Wijk joined Arend-Jan Boekestijn. Complete face-lift to an Institute of War, bringing fear instead of hope, more bloodshed rather than bringing different cultures together. Spreading the wings for populism like Wilders and Trump. A new revolutionist needed from the grassroots and public response: "We abhor war for political aim, these conflicts are not based on policy of self-defense or to gain peace in our generation."

Some Double Talk from Rob
"Pentagon has said Ukraine could "absolutely" win the war against Russia, even as US officials speak of the risk of a protracted conflict."

Pentagon Press Secretary John F. Kirby Holds a Press Briefing | April 6, 2022 |
OK. Let's see, Phil Stewart from Reuters.
Q: Hey there. Thanks. Yesterday, Chairman Milley said that the war in Ukraine could go on for years. Is that your assessment? And you know, if so, does that mean that the Pentagon assesses that Ukraine can't win this war? Or is there winning that, you know, results in continued conflict?
MR. KIRBY: Phil, I don't think anybody knows for certain if the war isn't brought to an end through diplomacy how long it could last. It's impossible to know that. I would tell you that it could end today. It could end today, if Mr. Putin did the right thing and sat down in good faith with the Ukrainians, withdrew all his troops, sent them home, and respected Ukrainian sovereignty.
He -- obviously he's choosing a different path. He's going to refocus his efforts on the eastern part of the country, a part of the country where he and his troops and his private military contractors have been violating Ukrainian sovereignty now for eight years. The fact that he's going to concentrate in a smaller geographic area, certainly presents the possibility that the violence will continue.
It could even intensify in that part of Ukraine. And because we expect -- fully expect that the Ukrainians will keep fighting for this area, which belongs to them, and they've been fighting over it for eight years, could extend the conflict longer than anybody wants to see it go. But you can't be perfectly predictive about this.
And then once the war is over, whenever that is, and whatever that piece looks like, I think you can imagine that the international community's going to want to come together to help rebuild Ukraine, and that's going to take some time. Nobody knows for sure. And as for your question about whether they can win or whether we've given up on them winning, or does this mean that they can't win because we think it's going to go for a long time?
The answer is absolutely not. Of course, they can win this. And if you look at what they've been able to do just thus far, Mr. Putin has achieved exactly zero of his strategic objectives inside Ukraine. He didn't take Kyiv. He didn't topple the government. He didn't remove Ukraine as a nation state. And he's really only taken control of a small number of population centers.
And even they weren't the ones that he was really going after. So, you know, Mariupol is still not taken. He's moved his forces out of Kyiv. He's moved his forces out of Cherniniv. They haven't taken Kharkiv. They haven't taken Mykolayiv in the south. So, I think the proof is literally in the outcomes that you're seeing every day.
The Ukrainians are bravely fighting for their country. And they have denied Mr. Putin so many of his strategic objectives. So absolutely, they can win. And the -- we have to just keep reminding ourselves that there shouldn't be any need for them to have to -- for us even have to answer that question, because there shouldn't be a war in Ukraine. And Mr. Putin can end it today. OK. I think that's it. Thanks, everybody.
Did you have one more Jen.
Q: I do. Just to follow up on that issue. Is the U.S. goal strategic defeat of Russia?
MR. KIRBY: The U.S. goal is to make sure that Ukraine can continue to defend itself as they continue to work on a on a diplomatic solution here. And then the secondary goal is to make sure that we can bolster NATO's Eastern Flank so that we can deter any aggression, any potential aggression by Russia and by Mr. Putin. Thanks, everybody.
No, I got to go. Thanks. Appreciate it.
Message from the Pentagon to Rob van Wijk: "Neither in Ukraine, nor in Gaza do we do ceasefires or serious negotiations ... we go all out to destroy the enemy"⁉️
When your aim is war, you miss the opportunities for peace ☮️ ... Bibi Netanyahu has the Zionist goal of expansion of its territory ... due to wars he inflicts on Palestinians and the neighbouring states ... never been part of a peace process ... political gain by more aggression.

Top Military War Planning Under Joe Biden - Ukraine | 12 Sept 2023 |
I have followed all developments for NATO under US leadership, these were steadfast towards the ultimate confrontation v the Russian Federation. Hybrid warfare, hacking, disinformation and a flow of scripted war narrative and propaganda. The think tanks turned away from diplomacy and "bless you" peace initiatives, to rightwing fascism and turning public opinion into Russophobia, preparing a war footing. A slow but steady process only slowed down during four years of the Trump administration which was pre-occupied with Middle East warfare and biased pro-Israel policy and its execution.
I can't recall whether I missed this critical moment where the Pentagon and the White House finalized military plans for the battle to push Russia out of Ukrainian territory. Joe Biden never cared about the ceasefire in the Minsk Agreement nor did he take into account the number of deaths and wounded of his foolish actions.
As the War Room planning of the U.S. and Ukraine took shape, most of Europe was fighting the Covid-19 pandemic and the Germans were heading to general elections and a new Chancellor to succeed a strong European voice of Angela Merkel. Emmanuel Macron and Mark Rutte would be the elder politicians in the EU as the decisions were made in Washington DC.
I did do a write-up ...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky knows what it means to fight the Russians, and he came to Washington asking for more military assistance to help keep Russian President Vladimir Putin from encroaching further on Europe.
In Oval Office remarks with Zelensky on Sept. 1, President Joe Biden made note of a $60 million security assistance package that included Javelin anti-tank missiles, and he underscored why Ukraine matters to U.S. interests.
I. Security and Defense
In the 21st century, nations cannot be allowed to redraw borders by force. Russia violated this ground rule in Ukraine. Sovereign states have the right to make their own decisions and choose their own alliances. The United States stands with Ukraine and will continue to work to hold Russia accountable for its aggression. America's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering.
"Ukraine and the United States have a similar value system and the strong commitment to the fulfillment of a promise ... and that is a Europe whole, free, and at peace," Biden said.
Zelensky, in turn, stated a number of the security challenges he intended to discuss with Biden, from help repelling Russia's proxy war in eastern Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea, to threatened energy security once the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is activated. He also asked for Biden's "vision of Ukraine's chances to join NATO."
