Picking Targets in Iran :: CNN, Media Cheerleading

Every bone in my life is hurting ... stupid wars and  immense suffering.

More damage was done and deaths by Israel's air strike on the Iranian embassy in Beirut than the two retaliatory strikes by Iran on Israel. WTF what do you expect a pariah state in the docket in The Hague at the UN World Court ICJ for alleged acts of genocide.

The strike on Iran's consulate in Syria could be the spark that ignites the Middle East | Chatham House - 22 April 2024 |

Israel's attack signalled a shift in its strategy towards Iran. Tehran's response and the US promise of `ironclad' support for Israel risks escalation of this transnational conflict.

EU Foreign Ministry: Statement on the flagrant violation by Israel in the attack and destruction of Iranian consular facilities in Damascus

The European Union condemns the attack on an Iranian diplomatic installation in Damascus on 1 April, as well as the reported casualties.

In this highly tense regional situation, it is imperative to show utmost restraint. Further escalation in the region is in no one's interest.

The principle of the inviolability of diplomatic and consular premises and personnel must be respected in all cases and in all circumstances in accordance with international law.

The international community races to reduce tension after a series of targeted killings carried out by Israel

Global leaders have cautioned against the widening of Israel's War on Gaza after the assassination of senior [political leader not a terrorist] Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh' in Tehran this week. The death of the head of Hamas' political wing came shortly after Israel assassinated a prominent Hezbollah leader in Beirut and two Al Jazeera media workers reporting near Haniyeh's home in Gaza.

Condemnation of the assassination came swiftly from around the world as senior officials in the West worked to prevent the conflict from drawing in Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen.

Homeland for Palestinians is in Jordan | Speech Geert Wilders - 5 Dec. 2010 |

TEL AVIV - My friends, the blame should be laid where it belongs: with the Arab world. The Jewish refugees built new lives for themselves. They did what millions of refugees have done in the course of history, including, in the 20th century, the Germans who had to leave Sudetenland and the lands east of the Oder and Neisse rivers, the Hungarians who fled Transsylvania, the Greeks who were ejected from the Aegean coast of Anatolia, the Hindus who fled the Punjab.

With each generation, the resentment of these refugees and their descendants slowly fades away. Time heals all wounds. Acceptance of the new situation is the norm.

Islam, however, conditions Muslims to hate Jews. It is a religious duty to do so. Israel must be destroyed because it is the homeland of the Jews.

Influential Islamic scholars, such as Muhammad Tantawi, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in Cairo, the most prestigious center of Muslim learning, call Jews "enemies of Allah."

Tantawi, who died last March, was generally considered a moderate by the Western media and policy makers. But how did this "moderate" address a delegation of Palestinian Muslims who visited him in 2002?

He urged them to intensify suicide attacks against Israelis, stating that every so-called "martyrdom operation" against - I quote - "any Israeli, including children, women, and teenagers, is a legitimate act according to [Islamic] religious law, and an Islamic commandment, until the people of Palestine regain their land." - end of quote.

Nizar Qabbani, one of the most revered poets in the Arab world, praised the madness of those who are blinded by an ideology of hatred. In his poem Ode to the Intifada, he wrote: "O mad people of Gaza, A thousand greetings to the mad. The age of political reason has long departed. So teach us madness." [Pamela Geller]

Geert Wilders: Change Jordan's name to Palestine | Ynet News |

Rightist Dutch leader wants to end Mideast conflict by finding Palestinians 'alternate homeland'

The Saudi Al-Watan carried Jordan's response to Wilders' speech. The kingdom's embassy in Hague was outraged, and said the Dutch ambassador would soon be summoned to explain.

Jordan's minister for media affairs and communications, Nabil Al Sharif, asked for clarifications. He described Wilders' declaration as "an echo of the voice of the Israeli Right" and "crows' screams".

"Jordan is an independent and secure country which supports the Palestinian issue, and these imaginings of finding them an alternate homeland are nothing but the delusions of a few people," he said.

The PVV nearly tripled its power in the last election, going from nine parliament seats to 24. The right-wing party, which has called for a ban on minarets and Muslim scarves, has been holding so far unsuccessful negotiations with the liberal Right.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered his "deepest condolences to the families of our heroes who fell today in Lebanon."

"May God avenge them. May their memory be a blessing," the prime minister said. "We're in the heat of a grueling war against Iran's axis of evil, aimed at destroying us. That will not happen because we shall stand together, and with God's help, we shall emerge victorious together."

"We will return our hostages in the south, return our residents in the north and ensure the eternity of Israel," Netanyahu stated.

Spain backs UN chief after Israel declared him persona non grata | Anadolu Agency |

Foreign minister says Antonio Guterres is 'a good friend of Spain and, above all, a friend of peace'

Hitting back at Israel's decision to declare UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres persona non grata, Spain on Wednesday expressed support for Guterres.

"We completely reject this slander and this ban, and we support, of course, the UN secretary-general," Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares told Spanish broadcaster La Sexta.

Clearly the ICC is not fit for its task to stop war crimes and genocide.

Israel able to repel Iranian attack without need for major help from allies | The Guardian |

Overt US military intervention was limited to the USS Bulkeley and USS Cole firing off a dozen interceptors, though it was not immediately clear if they were successful, the Pentagon said. Nor would the US confirm which missiles had been deployed, though SM-3 ballistic interceptors have been costed at $10m (£7.5) to $28m each.

Interceptor missiles are more expensive than the missiles they seek to destroy, and in April US navy secretary, Carlos Del Toro, told the US senate that his force had spent $1bn on munitions, used to defend Israel in April and on attacking the Houthi rebels in Yemen who had been targeting commercial shipping.

The cost of the interceptors is a key reason why fighter jets are used to target drones, ideally shooting them down with simple gunfire. But Iran's goal, as well as to cause damage to Israeli airfields and other targets, was to inflict financial costs on the country and its western backers for helping it.

Jordan, a western ally and recipient of over $1bn a year in US military aid, was involved again, as it had been in April, though the success of its efforts was also unclear. The country's public security directorate said on Tuesday the air force and air defence systems "responded to a number of missiles and drones that entered Jordanian airspace", though its report of drones appears inaccurate.

Turkish National Security Council: Türkiye stands by Lebanon | A News |

The National Security Council meeting, chaired by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has concluded after 3 hours and 45 minutes. A written statement was released on Thursday regarding the decisions made during this critical meeting.

Information was presented to the council regarding operations conducted both domestically and internationally with determination, resolve, and success against various threats and dangers to our national unity and integrity, primarily focusing on terrorist organizations such as PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and DAESH, as well as recent international developments.

CLEAR MESSAGE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM

It was emphasized that efforts to neutralize terrorist organizations based in Syrian territory [concentration of Al Nusra, IS-K terrorists in Idlib and Syrian Kurds] will continue unabated, and any plans or faits accomplis that could jeopardize our national security will not be tolerated. Additionally, it was noted that efforts will be increased to resolve the conflict in a manner that aligns with the interests and expectations of the region and the Syrian people.

"TÜRKİYE STANDS BY THE PEOPLE OF LEBANON!"

It was expressed that Türkiye's resolute efforts to stop the genocide that the Palestinian people have faced for a year before the eyes of the world, as well as the need to enhance and sustain international efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire and peace in Palestine without delay.

A call was made to actors in responsible positions, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to take immediate action to prevent Israel's attacks that aim to extend conflicts beyond Palestinian territories into the Middle East.

It was reaffirmed that Türkiye, alongside its nation and state, will stand with the brotherly people and government of Lebanon in the face of Israel's inhumane attacks.

The banning of the UN Secretary-General from entering the country, declaring him a persona non grata, was condemned as the latest example of Israel's disregard for law.

It was noted that Türkiye will not allow the abuse of its sincere approach and efforts to develop cooperation frameworks for establishing lasting stability and peace in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas; it was emphasized that acting with common sense is the most appropriate choice.
