Isolation of Israel and America Endures

Extraordinary Arab and Islamic Summit in Riyadh | Arab News |

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman renewed the Kingdom's objections to Israeli attacks in Gaza and violations of Lebanon's sovereignty.

In his opening statement at an extraordinary Arab and Islamic summit, hosted by Riyadh, he denounced the obstruction of aid efforts by humanitarian agencies in Gaza and rejected any diminishing of the role of the Palestinian Authority.

"The Kingdom condemns the obstruction of the relief efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Near East in Palestinian territories, as well as the obstruction of the work of humanitarian organizations providing aid to the Palestinian people," the crown prince said.

Israel formally notified the UN last week of its decision to sever ties with UNRWA after Israeli politicians voted in favor of the move on Oct. 28.

The international community must "immediately halt the Israeli actions against our brothers in Palestine and Lebanon", the crown prince said, describing Israel's campaign in Gaza as "genocide."

The United States and Israel have been on a collision course with the Islamic World ever since the 9/11 attacks.

A number of Arab states had attempted to improve bi-lateral relations with Israel. This endeavor seems to have ended now.

The Israeli bromance with the Abraham Accords has ended in defeat.

Crown Prince Salman continued: "We condemn the Israeli military operations that have targeted Lebanese territories and we reject anything that threatens Lebanon's stability and safety as well as anything that violates its territorial integrity.

"Israel's continued criminal actions against innocent people, its violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and its undermining of the Palestinian Authority's pivotal role in all Palestinian territories will hinder efforts to secure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and establish regional peace."

The crown prince also condemned attacks against Iran, saying that the international community should put pressure on Israel to respect "the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran" and cease all hostile actions against its territories.

He said "we stand with our brothers in Palestine and Lebanon," and reiterated that Palestine qualifies for full membership in the UN, as he stressed the necessity of establishing a Palestinian state.

"We launched a global initiative to support the two-state solution," he added, referring to a call by Saudi authorities for more peace-loving countries to formally recognize a Palestinian state, through the UN General Assembly.

Genocide by Famine Worsening Despite US Deadline

I just can’t look away as my adopted country and The Netherlands, support the Jewish State in today’s genocide of Palestinians and have blocked any outcome but Eretz Yisrael. The two state option died during the 8 years of Obama-Biden reign in America. Return of the Dark Ages of Inhumanity.

Gaza didn't cost Harris the election. But her approach pointed to a broader problem | The Forward |

Pro-Palestinian organizers say the problem was her focus on courting moderates, including Republicans, rather than motivating the party's left flank

... but Harris' unwillingness to make serious concessions to voters unhappy with her position on Israel was indicative of a broader failure to make a convincing appeal to the left flank of the Democratic Party.

On immigration, the economy and other issues, her campaign seemed more focused on persuading independents and moderate Republicans who do not trust Trump than with motivating the base and turning out new, young, activist voters.

"There aren't 20 million Arab and Muslim votes," Abbas Alawieh, one of the Uncommitted movement's founders, said at a press conference in Dearborn, Michigan, on Wednesday morning. "This is a big problem for the Democrats that's bigger than any one issue."

Eva Borgwardt, a spokesperson for IfNotNow, a Jewish group that has been campaigning against the war, pointed to various polls that showed overwhelming support -- and scant opposition -- to the U.S. placing conditions on its military aid to Israel, something that Harris only ever hinted that she was open to doing. [Harris doesn't know shit about Zionism, occupation and Nakba]

"The campaign's approach on Gaza was similar to their approach on other issues, in terms of ignoring the overwhelming concerns of the base to court a white, Republican constituency that was always very unlikely to vote for them," Borgwardt said in an interview.

But this effort, which included embracing former Vice President Dick Cheney and his daughter, former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, does not seem to have succeeded. Early exit polls showed Harris winning around 5% of self-identified Republicans nationally, slightly below the number who backed Biden in 2020.

Thus Kamala turned to the right and nixed the "Left." Ideal leader for hardcore Wall Street Democrats - schizophrenic.

Kamala Harris and Gaza Genocide: Why Democrats Lost the Advantage of Humanity

Electoral defeats upend the saying: victory has many fathers, defeat is an orphan.  In the case of Kamala Harris' defeat, there are many fathers.  One important one is Gaza. Peter Beinart published a NY Times op-ed arguing that opposition by young people and African-Americans to US policy there, played a major role in her loss ...

Democrats Ignored Gaza and Brought Down Their Party | NY Times Opinion - 7 Nov 2024 |

But viewing Gaza's political repercussions merely through the lens of identity misses something fundamental. Over the past year, Israel's slaughter and starvation of Palestinians -- funded by U.S. taxpayers and live-streamed on social media -- has triggered one of the greatest surges in progressive activism in a generation.

Many Americans roused to action by their government's complicity in Gaza's destruction have no personal connection to Palestine or Israel. Like many Americans who protested South African apartheid or the Vietnam War, their motive is not ethnic or religious. It is moral.

The outrage has been particularly intense among Black Americans and the young. This spring, encampments expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people rose on more than 100 college campuses.

In February, the Council of Bishops of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, one of the nation's most prominent Black congregations,  called the war in Gaza a "mass genocide" and demanded that the Biden-Harris administration stop funding it.

In June, the NAACP urged an end to weapons shipments as well. A June CBS News poll found that while most voters over the age of 65 supported arms sales to Israel, voters under the age of 30 opposed them by a ratio of more than three to one. And while only 56 percent of white voters favored cutting off weapons, among Black voters the figure was 75 percent.

Those pre-election polling numbers may explain some of what we saw Tuesday night. Kamala Harris is far more youthful than Joe Biden. Yet, early exit polls -- from CNN, Washington Post, , Fox News and the Associated Press -- suggest she suffered a sharp decline among voters under the age of 29 compared with Mr. Biden's result in 2020. Ms. Harris is Black, yet according to CNN and The Washington Post, she did slightly worse than Mr. Biden among Black voters. One exit poll, from Fox News and The Associated Press, suggests she did significantly worse.

[...]

And not only did Ms. Harris not break with Mr. Biden's policy, she went out of her way to make voters who care about Palestinian rights feel unwelcome. When antiwar activists interrupted a speech of hers in August, Ms. Harris snapped, "If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that."

Such a reaction takes down her own character and doesn't provide an argument.

Biden was not a partner for peace in the Middle East but followed the path of Trump and his cabal. Divided the world in East-West and North-South. The Arab states and Muslim countries are uniting as a resistance front against the Jewish state.

Why We Are Liberals | My Left Wing |

by: Maryscott O'Connor Fri Sep 19, 2008

Over the past several years I've become convinced that the ways we classify political beliefs and ideologies (or perhaps the very definitions themselves) are in dire need of revamping. For instance...

What's a "conservative?" Used to be there was a standard reply to that query, one that included the paeans to "small government, low taxes, laissez-faire" portraits of the federal government. Nowadays, however, when I think of a "conservative," I think of a bizarre hybrid, a "free trader" crossed with a would-be Puritan, whose ideal federal government micromanages the individual's private affairs, but still uses a hands-off approach in dealing with corporatism...

Passionate Rant on American Politics 😊

But it is with Booman's (often implicit and perhaps unconscious) embrace of American Exceptionalism that I have generally had the biggest problem:  I simply don't believe that America has some God given right or grace to impose its beliefs and values on others, or that it is in some way an inherently more moral nation.

    Trump's Re-election Will Redefine U.S. Power

  • Trump will navigate world politics with greater confidence this time around. Whether he will have any better luck bending the world to his "America first" brand is another question entirely. What is certain, however, is that the era of American exceptionalism has ended. Under Trump, U.S. foreign policy will cease promoting long-standing American ideals. That, combined with an expected surge of corrupt foreign policy practices, will leave the United States looking like a garden-variety great power.
